Gc server is up again

Server is back up again, we have re-configured the backup server to redirect all players back to the main Gc server.
This is what we suspect could have happened:
Microsoft issued an important `windows security update`. When this happens our server will automatically download, install and restart the server. Windows will turn off most of its functions to install the update. However in this case, the update turn off most of the functions of the server but stopped there. It did not install nor restart the server. When this happens our server monitoring does not work, nor do admins or even us have the ability to fix or restart the server. It too us sometime to figure out what went wrong, and to call the data center to restart the server for us.
As a pre-caution we have turn off this auto-update feature in our Gc server to ensure this doesnt happen again anytime soon. All inconvience is deeply regretted. All players have been given special DP.

If you are facing problems getting into the server, try connecting to http://spacefed.com/gc/
A complete server crash (this means even we cant access the server) has not happen before on Gc. We have enabled the backup server for Gc in the mean time while we try to fix the server.
We are still looking into the cause of this problem, however it seems from studying other servers that `Microsoft Security Update`* maybe the cause of this problem, as it* has restarted a couple of our other servers and switch off a number of our server monitoring tools.
We will post more information when it becomes available.

One more joke huh ? If windows servers are better than unix ones, then why`s not most of the industry using them ? Answer : they are less secure, less stable (just got a pretty good example here), harder to maintain and the list goes on.
