Event - Space-Well | |
Space-Well event :) *Summary
2010-03-05
A growing number of reports has just came in. It seems some parties who were previously using toxic materials in food production has now switch over to plastic and heavy metals (ex: melamine and led paint) instead due to the rise in consumption of toxic waste price (thanks to the aliens eating up all the junk). A super-health panic has started that has so far reduce the economy of numerous empires. Consumers now has drastically reduce their purchase of food tablets (yeah they use pills for Lunch & Dinner in the future, talk about instant food eh?). Strangely toxic residues found in the food is typically reversed by the advancements of food suppliments (vitamins) however that doesnt get rid of the heavy metal & plastic.
Various government agencies are working towards resolving this issue, unfortunately it is anyone`s guess when this could be concluded.
Temporary server effect: -20% income/productivity
Final Notes
Alrighty this has officially concluded the Space-Well event. A new event will start shortly, therefore please refer to the thread: Space-Food
2010-03-03
There has been reports that income and productivity has dropped by 20% for a great number of empires thoughout the galaxy. Scientists are still working to figure out why.
2010-03-03
Headlines in GNN (Galactic News Network): A number of scientists concluded that agriculture does not produce nuclear waste therefore the increase of productivity for the agricultural sector is probably caused by faulty findings. However a great number of empires thoughout the galaxy is abandoning their `green` side and taking steps to further increase their industry output... together with a great increase in waste product. So far the aliens are happily eating up our waste... but for how long ?
Temporary server effect: +100% racial industry attributes
Note (Spoiler Warning): A number of people pointed out that agriculture does not produce toxic/nuke waste, although I would argue that in the future the farming industry will be so commercialized that it would pretty much be the same as a factory. Anyhow heres the minor change
2010-03-02
With the worry of waste being taken out of the picture factory and agriculture production for many empires has greatly increased. This is thanks to the aliens importing massive amount of waste both toxic and radiative to feed their population. A growing number of scientist are cautioning numerous governments around the galaxy to take a safer stand with the possibility of giant sized fat aliens going hostile on us sometime in the near future. Unfortunately with the capitalist nature of most empires (and the fact that they place a greater importance on $$$) seems to be ignoring the scientist`s plight. This is understandable considering DrRanish a scientist that has so far caused great havoc across the galaxy with his pet project going haywire.
Temporary server effect: +50% racial industry & agriculture attributes

Hyper-space alien abruply appears following the time-dilation noticed by numerous empires thoughout the galaxy. With a warm greeting the inhabitants offer them a warm welcome with an offering of tons of toxic and nuclear wastes. In return the aliens has offered everyone who has welcomed them a small token of their appreciation.
Permanent server effect: +Grand Dinero to all who have welcomed the aliens Note: You can collect your reward by going to Events > Collect Reward, with 1x g.Dinero for every 20 turns spent.
2010-02-27
Various empires throughout the galaxy is reporting space-time anomaly. Causing a time dilation. So far many empires are happy with the effect of the dilation of being able to construct ships are a faster rate
Temporary server effect: +20% ship construction speed
2010-02-22 - break
Hi ya there guys, I am just dropping you guys a message to let you guys know that I am still here. Everyone in the office were away because of Lunar Near Year celebration. So its kinda like an a Xmas+Near Year break which everyone is mainly off in UK for like 2 weeks (when I was still there). I am back at work now, looking into a lot of... you guessed it, paperwork and bills. Once I sort out the backlog of 1.5 weeks worth of work, I`ll get back to the story. So stay tune guys.
2010-02-09 - break
We are taking a break again :) Why ? 1. Holidays is coming up (Lunar Year) and i have to bring my kids to see their grand parents which so happen to be in another state and I would prefer to be personally around to fix any problems that might occur. 2. I`ve also promised that this event will last for roughly 1.5 weeks. 3. Time is required for the next step of this storyline :)

A number of empires found that the hyperspace tear isnt stable, this is apparent with the observed hyperspace tear effects fluctuating effectively disapearing for a couple hours yesterday. Scientists has managed to send in a probe into sector 58 during this tear fluctuation. Based on information sent back it seems there is a vast army of space-aliens on the other side of the space-tear. The galactic council is split into a two factions on what to do with the space-tear.
Choice 1: Warm and peaceful greetings to the aliens in hopes that they will consume the galactic toxic waste & junk from our nuke reactors
Choice 2: Develop a hyperspace shield in an attempt to close up the effected area, let the aliens starve.
Note: You may be required to spend some resources (turns) in this.
Temporary server effects: +10% shields to Marauder & Collective ships +50% income/productivity A.Miner & Guardian (UC only) +60% ship construction speed , -20% income/production
2010-02-03
The space-time dilation abruptly ceased and a new hyperspace tear opens up near sector 58. Panic spreads though out the galaxy with various empires worried that a giant space-alien might come forth and to seek out revenge against those empires that is responsible to feed it toxic waste. Income and productivity for empires were effected however many empires report an increase of military stock-piling.
Temporary server effect: +60% ship construction speed , -20% income/production
2010-02-01
As when most empires has settled down taking for granted that the Dr Ranish`s bad experimentation is over, a new space abnormally was recently reported being detected near sector 58. So far this space abnormally has created a space-time dilation effectively doubling the potential time frame as we speak. Unfortunately the side effects includes a space radiation that would reduce the deterioration of ship`s hull in space reducing maintenance required. This space abnormally has so far eluded the many scientists throughout the galaxy on why it is happening...
Temporary server effect: +50% turn storage , -30% ship upkeep
2010-01-16 - Break
Stephen: Hi, sorry for the delay in the +ship effect, I`ve been very ill spending most of the day + night in bed for the last 2-3 days therefore I wasnt around to better monitor this problem. I feel better today hence the reason why I am here. It seems that I have set the date as `active to 2009-01-14` instead of 2010. For those of you who have fallen off your chair for this really careless typo, I appologize. As a further note, this marks the event-fin for both GC & UC for the time being. For those asking when is the next event coming up... no spoilers from me haha ... (evil laughter)
Hope you guys enjoyed this event. Plz post ur comments, as ideas for future events will be taken from this discussion.
This event-spoilers (Read at ur own risk) * DrRanish alien ships`s shield reduced by roughly 50% (starts at 99%) at 24 hour intervals. If DrRanish dies then a couple more events will occur (find the egg, and egg hatching), otherwise it skips to the end (+ship construction). * The egg is a precursor to the next event in which empires that holds the egg gets to use some new features (for more info wait for the next event).
2010-01-12
After 3 days the hyperspace aliens desperate to return to their own world managed to open a tear in the space-time continuum aliens. Scientist are baffled by this space anomaly. So far it has speed up time regards to ship construction.
Temporary server effect: +200% ship construction speed
2010-01-09
The space-well machine has since been sitting idly for 24 hours and it is time to unplug the darn machine and to store it away... (probably on the seabed of a Oceanic planet, lol). Unfortunately upon unplugging the machine a hyperspace tear has appeared that treaten to do even more harm to the universe. To make matters worst several unknown aliens has appeared from the hyperspace tear.
The galactic council has since issued a warning and is calling upon everyone to do what they could to save this universe... by attacking (and hopefully killing) all hyperspace aliens.
Temporary server effect: Hyperspace aliens appearing in Ranish empire
2010-01-08
Annoyed with the inability to resolve the problem Dr. Ranish somewhat kicked his space-well machine causing the space distortion effect to be nullified... at least for now. The good news is various empires throughout the universe has so far reported that their coffers has return to normal.
2010-01-07
Desperate to restore the universe to its natural order, Dr. Ranish attempted to reverse the failed space-well effect. The good news is, the time distortion has been rectified, unfortunately this merely move the time problem to the space (space-time factor) with a very bad side effect. There have been numerous reports stating coffers for various empires has somewhat shrank in size.
Temporary server effect: -20% income & productivity
2010-01-05
Dr. Ranish a scientist from Sol while toying around with his experimental space-well machine accidentally created a temporary time distortion that somehow effected the entire universe. Reports has came in from empire in the far reaches of space that they could some how move longer.
Ranish`s Space-Well is supposedly to increase the gravity well that surrounds his home planet to increase its defense against hostile invaders. Obviously something went wrong some where.
Temporary server effect: +100% turn storage.

Tikimana 99+ day(s) ago | In fact, by not playing now, you`re clearly expecting the event will go away before your turns fill up, so it will be like there was no event.
I hope the effect gets worse before you gotta start spending them >:-D |
Tikimana 99+ day(s) ago | Ang3l0fDeath2, just suck it up and play. It`s *supposed* to have an effect on your production, as it will on everyone. |
ear614 99+ day(s) ago | heres one kelti commercail goes down 50% XD |
keltikelti 99+ day(s) ago | hmm agri and industry have had + mods wonder when commercial gets one |
Ang3l0fDeath2 99+ day(s) ago | God darn another server i cant play today, with this event and all the UW`s that goes off you should just do us a favor and kill our empires and save us the struggle |
Ang3l0fDeath 99+ day(s) ago | PS: This current Event is already 24 hours old, please turn it off so i can resume playing the game. Us Turn base people do get bored during such events cause we sit on our butts even more. |
Ang3l0fDeath 99+ day(s) ago | Fuzzy thats not always true, most of the top players play for the imbalance of the game, but ya the imbalance of the game and the game limits is the downfall of the game, plus the rude GC community at large. However this past 6 months the fourms havent been half bad, hm did rarehunter die off finally lol |
Fuzzy 99+ day(s) ago | Stephen, I think a bit of advertising would be great for GC, if you can make the investment. As I stated in another forum thread, new empires per day has dropped to below 50, from over 400 in mid-2004.
The idea of donation-for-something may significantly imbalance this game. Balance is a very important element that makes this game great...it is a big reason why I and many others play this game.
Should you require funds to advertise this game, I would encourage you to consider how your donation system would impact the balance of the game. It`s one thing for one to succeed in this game because of hard work, it`s another for one to succeed because they happen to be better-off financially.
If you are considering some sort of system, I highly recommend you involve the "experts" of the GC community - the (G)s, (A)s, etc. If you`re trying to advertise for the game, I think that last thing you`d want to do is create a mass exodus of current players but changing the balance in the game. |
Squaks 99+ day(s) ago | this effect takes away 20% of your income plus 20% production of anything like food and cgs, so its a pretty negative effect, i hope the next effect makes up for it cause being guard our income is already bad as it is. |
Tikimana 99+ day(s) ago | This effect is fun, please leave it up for a while... make us in Slow have to take the economic hit by using turns to not go over the 250-turn limit :-D |
PoisonousCandyCane 99+ day(s) ago | Is it 20% from total income regardless of fleet? Or is it 20% of positive income (like a -bonus)? |
Hellium 99+ day(s) ago | Now how do I collect the rewards? :S |
Deiloche 99+ day(s) ago | ...
That`s just mean. Reduce consumption too. :P |
Ang3l0fDeath 99+ day(s) ago | great another day not to play GC cause its pointless using turns for my empire |
ear614 99+ day(s) ago | I can`t believe im actually going to suggest this but why not bring ads back. With this we can afford to place some of Ads up. |
Deiloche 99+ day(s) ago | Give some love to taxers and comercialites! You`ve been raining down hate on the taxers (-income without -food consumption), give us some love now too! |
Squaks 99+ day(s) ago | to bad industry is not very common income on any server atm |
CallMeClutch 99+ day(s) ago | yea i kno i have like 70 GD`s :) |
Academy 99+ day(s) ago | its automatic
You used up 1 turn(s) Credit +21,318 Food +128 Goods +5,075
1,123 industry |
Stephen 99+ day(s) ago | hmm... advertising for gc ? atm there isnt much of a budget for that, other than putting stuff up for blogs and stuff like that. i guess i could put some donate-for-something up... that might give us room for some marketing budget for gc |
