NiHiLiM 2010-05-23 | | s l o w . . . | | Anyone else having the same problem? pages take AGES (relatively spoken ofc.) to load :( although pages report normal generation times (0.05 sec avg)
is there`s sort of DDOS going on? :s because network is terribad slacky
compared with some other servers:
Root-dns-server VeriSign - Brussels, Belgium ----192.58.128.30 PING Statistics---- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max/med = 25/25/27/25
Root-dns-server VeriSign - New York, USA ----198.41.0.4 PING Statistics---- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max/med = 106/107/108/107
Root-dns server ICANN - Cape Town, South Africa ----199.7.83.42 PING Statistics---- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max/med = 166/167/168/167
Root-dns server RIPE NCC - Tokyo, Japan ----193.0.14.129 PING Statistics---- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max/med = 23/23/24/23
One of my own servers, datacentre is about 200km from here. ----hsx.be PING Statistics---- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max/med = 24/25/27/25
and then finally: ----gc.gamestotal.com PING Statistics---- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max/med = 1522/1539/1564/1535
a ping of 1540 ms .. is NOT good :( |

Oblivion 99+ day(s) ago | AbsoluteDestiny... I think he realizes that as is made apparent in his later post. The problem is/was between singapore and the US. |
YATYAS 99+ day(s) ago | It has been a little sluggish the last few days. |
AbsoluteDestiny 99+ day(s) ago | NiHiLiM
When you send a request to open a page, you send the request from your location to the location of the server.... travel time varies between distance / traffic. Which is Net-Delay.
Secondly when that request is recieved on the servers in Singapore it processes your request. The LOAD TIME (0.05 sec avg) is how long it takes to process your request on the SERVER. then that requested information is sent back to where you live, Again travel time varies between distance / traffic. Which is Net-Delay.
So really if your getting a slow responce and (0.05 sec avg) is low then its the along the way the requested information gets stuck. If you live closer to the Location of the SERVER its unlike you`ll experience big delays like those people who live in the USA. So get use to it. |
Raistilin 99+ day(s) ago | just go kick some Bg`s and AS#, might aswell go and bring down any multinational isp while your at it. having no internet solves the slow internet issue. |
NiHiLiM 99+ day(s) ago | Well spank my behind and call me Sally ...
guess someone got out of his bed and gave the darn hub a good kicking :p
problem seems off the road xD
(btw; an edit function would really be appreciated over here! ) |
NiHiLiM 99+ day(s) ago | those with slowness-problems; do a traceroute to find out how you connect to Singapore :)
problem is definitely the USA->Asia link :(
I traced again trough an academic network; which has different backbones... stays under 500ms
which is not fast, but certainly acceptable ^^
and that network uses Starhub to get across the pacific.
now thinking if i can`t set up a http-tunnel, to send traffic trough different networks to circumvent the bogus `Beyond The Network America Inc` and `Netplus Communications Pte Ltd` :s |
ArrLand 99+ day(s) ago | germany is also slow... |
NiHiLiM 99+ day(s) ago | slowness is not caused by the server itself imho :s
if I trace-route the server:

seems my uplink to Asia is kinda crooked :p
Belgium > Switzerland > UK > USA > Singapore :p
but, as you can see; the delay starts to build up abnormally once reached Singapore :(
so problem lies in the USA uplink to Singapore, OR in Singapore self :s |
DarkMaraudian 99+ day(s) ago | yep , extreeeeeeeemly slow.
server refresh thankfully in an hour though. should fix it |
