SpaceCowboy 2010-04-13 | | Error in battle calculations | | Not that it would have made a difference it the outcome of the battle, and I don`t really care all that much. just reporting a possible bug/error. I lost my stack of Aragonite and there is no possible way that should have happened that I am aware of.
1st round it would have matched up against a lone fighter drone which would have died before it could even think of firing a shot. Not that it would matter anyways 1 fighter isn`t going to kill any Aragonitses.
2nd round it`s stack should have been free to flank and since it has No Retal it shouldn`t have received any damage. Yet somehow I lost them.
An Evil Bad Person attacked you. Attack was successful !

UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | SpaceCowboy: while you are more than right, in my experience strategy games with intriguing game mechanics are often lacking in basic documentation. I think the designers make games so complex that they don`t even fully understand them, which I think we can safely assume to be true in stephen`s case. ;) |
SpaceCowboy 99+ day(s) ago | Thank you for the explanations guys. I was not aware of this until now. I suppose it works the same way as a free stack at the beginning of the round would fire at a random stack, but I have not seen anything even remotely related this instance, in any of the battle mechanics information or guides I have read. Which I find kinda surprising, something like this can be useful information. |
Acheron 99+ day(s) ago | No retal and no defense are the exceptions to what I just posted BTW |
Acheron 99+ day(s) ago | Each wave involves an attack from each stack, each attack will involve "return fire"
Wave 1... player A vs player B
Stack 1 shoots Stack 2
Stack 2 returns fire on Stack 1
(damage is calculated)
Stack 2 shoots Stack 1
Stack 1 returns fire on Stack 2
(damage is calculated)
Then it happens again in wave 2... if stack 2 were to destroy stack 1 by simply returning fire it would be free to attack any other stack during its attack phase...
Hope that makes sense |

UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | What Loof described can and does happen, it isn`t mentioned explicitly but it makes sense. The Chlor get wiped out by the Pyths` retaliatory fire, meaning the Pyths have yet to actually attack. The Aragonites get in their no-retal attack, and then the Pyths counterattack. |
SpaceCowboy 99+ day(s) ago | Because they died to return fire before the Pyth stack actually did an attack? I never read anything anywhere that said something like that would happen, that is if I am understanding you correctly. |
Loof 99+ day(s) ago | on the 2nd wave your chlor die to the pyth before the they shoot at anything, therefore the pyth shoot at a random stack afterwards |
