CrazyMaverickTNM 2009-11-25 | | GC proxy Mod | | You guys know of proxy websites, used mostly to bypass school/work computer security to get on other websites.
Well i played around with my own awhile back, it works fine, but the awsome part of it i just thought of is it could be used to transfer information from point A to point B.
Biggest problem people have with leaving GC to another game is all the work they put into there empires here lol. However i never did get enough into this stuff to actually transfer information over yet, idea was to copy battle results from GC into auto-battle logs for a federation board, saving a player time from copy & pasting it to there fedmates or friends. |

Anfit 99+ day(s) ago | btw, i wanted to do that, but then RL happened. we`ll see, but well... |
KnightofNi 99+ day(s) ago | Rofl I`m under 35 years old and I have no web programming skills outside of html... |
CrazyMaverickTNM 99+ day(s) ago | i swear nearly everyone that plays this not-smart text base game & younger than 35 years old has web-programming skills or knownledge of what people are talking about.
How old are you again EnderWiggin? i remember when you were young lol, what was that like 4 years ago, i dont think it was 5 when we met. |
EnderWiggin 99+ day(s) ago | haha.. thanks to cs 141 and a bunch of comp sci friends I now know what your talking about... ish. |
CrazyMaverickTNM 99+ day(s) ago | EnderWiggin its not easy to implement. Anfits mod could do the same thing. You just got to add a database, or make a XML file which is the same thing, just more work.
You actually have to take the GC code itself sorta out the information you want (This is a section you want), then you sorta more down to the text you want you which might be 2 letters thats it. Then take that information transfer it into an script/engine to process the input & output it in a display or database. Databases are good for storing information for the long term, short term wise a file or just cookies might due.
Im actually currently just starting to work in AJAX, which is a more fun but harder javascript. |
UrbanSprawl 99+ day(s) ago | It should only show opposing fleets. |
EnderWiggin 99+ day(s) ago | cool idea... how easy would it be to implement? |
Kurvinykas 99+ day(s) ago | Rather than having it automatically posted onto the fed board it would be cool to have a link next to each battle within a fed`s `activity` pages that showed the fleets of a battle, of course this would be bad if you had a spy within the fed leaking information to others - but all that would require stephen to delve into the maze of coldfusion programming already laid down however.
Either way the proxy usage is an interesting one. |
