  A vet`s view on GC.

The good, the bad or the ugly adminss or as of now no admins, the updates or no updates, the small bugs or "gamebreaking" bugs.

All of this don`t matter much!

The fact is that the game is exactly the same as it was when it was created. It is a functional game with no real meaning unless we create one ourselves. Looking at a high number on a text based planet is not why you play gc
(except maybe Valja and a few others).

This is a war game and what we lack now in comparison to the old days (03-06 maybe start 07) is intence wars and original player input. Feds who wish to stick it to another fed, and the third fed coming from the bottom wanting to stick it to both of em.

Good wars in this game have ALWAYS originated in good fed concepts, player interactivity and people who had an idea about what kind of team they wanted to create or at least join, leading to epic battles such as Thunderdogs vrs Distemper. Defiance of the Void vrs Executioners of Eden. UFP vrs Lysander Clone Attac, etc.
But that is just the major feds, also the funny or twisted inputs from small feds, such as the theme fed Don`t Panic or my own The Mad Hatters is what have made this game enjoyable and something more than just numbers on a black screen with turquoise writing.

The problem with this game have never been Stephen, Lothor, Maraudian, or the fact that you can only build 999 infra at a time(legit). The problem is that our playerbase is no longer made up of quaint, gronoria, Karolinierna, TBK, Apollo, Anfit, Zardoz, Zaphod, Cascones, UberPansy, DraconianParadice, Wingnut.......

This game could be just as good as it have always been if You who still play it just did something more than just click. When you create a fed you don`t call if Diciple of the Void for example. Ok maybe if you had an agenda to kill Defiance of the Void, but Diciple of the Void a sister fed to the original DotV?????? Do you know what defiance mean, do you know what diciple mean? Think, Be creative, Thank you.

I`m going to stay no. It`s futuristic, they wouldn`t have better preservation techniques? That and it`ll never get programmed in.

Plus, it would completely destroy the point of oh, tax, food, and mineral empires, you add degeneration to CGs as well, and those empires are a waste as well. Basically balanced empires would be the only semi-logical way to go, since everything you stockpiled would breakdown anyway. The market would also be close to useless, so if you want a dead game, sure, let`s add in decaying.

*walks away*

P.S. the tax empires would be useless because the food empires would disappear, so no more food to buy.

That does seem like a good idea... Although undoubtedly all the hoarders out there would be dead set against it... :-/

I`m surprised people have mentioned capping mineral reserves, but not decaying. Capping is archaic. It doesn`t scale. It originates from arbitrary values.

If 0.01 % of the minerals and food get lost per turn, you`d lose 1 unit per turn for every 10,000 you have. If people maintain 2,000,000 of something, that`s 200 lost per turn. It would discourage monopolizing resources, and encourage putting things up for sale on the market.
(If you keep under 10,000 of something, nothing gets lost. The value is floored.)

Also, I was never comfortable with the fact food lasts forever... that metal never oxidizes or goes brittle, that strafez organism never turns sour in whatever vats it`s stored in. Decay of minerals and food would liven things up on the market with the sudden rush to sell unnecessarily large caches, THAT`S for sure!

Why don`t you all make an offer to buy Stephen out? I am serious about that.

there are a billion great ideas that would make this game 1,000% better. The real problem is that nothing that requires Stephen will ever happen. He clearly hates even thinking about GC. Probably if anyone else in the world owned this game, it would be more exciting and fun.

I agree with FOUNDERS but what about TB servers then? You can`t build your fleet in 48 hours on normal or fast or ultra for instance?(On slow you don`t need to go much higher anyway).
FOUNDERS

i reckon GC should follow UC in 1 aspect, especially in RT, no 1 should be able to build over 100mil pr w/o activating the first part of the UW and then maybe have a time limit of 48hours or something to build the rest of there UW stack b4 it automatically starts, i say this because i and probably many others have no interest spending hours or days building to 600mil pr to hit some1 camping up there. if the pr limit was set low enough for no 1 to hide for more than a few hours it would spice things up a little at least for me anyway.

You have ships with range, you have no retals, you have fast build ships, you have awesome starbases, you have ships with big hull. What more do you want? Well ok, you don`t have the power of marauder, but marauder doesn`t have the hull of miner either. It depends on the person playing the race to fully utilise the power of it.

lakko hokko lictor livid lyth chlor - kickass defense ships if you know how to use them
chlorite epidote chlor calcite - good stacking ships for aggressive fleet. Mixed up with neutrals are extremely good.

Miner is very balanced race, that`s it. If you are good stacker it is the perfect race.

Lack of minerals is a problem. Not in the sense that there are no minerals at the market, but because the mineral flow is too fast for n00bs to see when there is minerals at the market. I used to think that lowering the mineral cap would be a good thing, but now i don`t anymore.

Miner ships are not very good, and the only reason why you choose to be a miner, is because this will make you much richer than other races. If you limit the saving capacity how high would a miner be able to build, Maybe spam lyth to 350 mil, and building a stacked fleet would probably be possible to 250mil. That is some serious limitations of capability, and i think the outcome will be that very few wants to be miners.

I`m just starting up on the other servers, and I admit, while I`m on every day right now anyway, I like not really having it go on slow or normal that often, and fast every once in a while. Right now I`m almost more active on Ultra, in that I`m both doing things, and looking forward to doing more, whereas on RT I`m just laying around digging to replace artifacts that I combined out of boredom

Actually GC will be alive if there is more player. For now gc is quite balance as it is. we jus need to community to make this game fun.. we need more player to fight, to form fed for war, to provide make the market flow, etc.. now gc is in the endless loop of downfall.. fewer and fewer player will mean lesser fun in gc which in turn cause people to quit and have even lesser player..

so the main goal now is attracting player to join and stay.. which is difficult in the current state of gc...
