It`s cause of the NAME. Galactic Conquest. Really? That`s dorkier than star wars or star trek. People DO judge a book by the cover, especially when they open the first page and have no idea what its saying. Which is what this game is.. a very un-newbie-friendly game with a bad name. I truly adore this game and think its just great.. SOOOO.... I`m thinking this thread should be dedicating to new name suggestions!!
I`ll suggest something later, for now its up to YOU to come up with some new name suggestions.
Think about it in comparison to Unification Wars. That has a better name for a worse, less unrealistic, and newbie friendly game. The name should spew Skill, battle, economy, commitment, and effort all with a couple words..... so go for it guys!!!!! |

99+ day(s) ago | kelt, I`m actually with you there. I came back after however many years of being gone, and I decided to give UC a try. And it confused me a bit to because I`m used to GC. But it`s like working on cars, if you have.
If you start working on cars now and you start working on a high end fuel injected motor with electronic everything and an automatic transmission. And that`s the only thing you`ve ever worked on. Then you pop over and try to work on a 1976 Ford LTD V8 with a double barrel carbeurator and enough room under the hood that you and five friends can sit in there with it. It`s difficult, because everythings different. But the 76 is still easier to work on.
Yeah, I know I get carried away with my behindogies. That`s actually even more abbreviated than I was going to make it, I`m just tired and I`ve decided to start drinking early tonight. |

People don`t rush to UC because GC`s name is worse. UC is easier, the learning curve is smaller, and the game holds your hand the whole way through. And even if you suck, all you need is someone that doesn`t to defend you. People play UC because it`s easier, even if they`re horrible at math or understanding the game, it doesn`t matter.
GC requires at least some understanding of what you`re doing if you plan on getting anywhere. So the problem isn`t in the name, it`s the fact that most gamers that are going to play something like this don`t have the patience or understanding to master GC. So they take the easy route.
Also, pointing out things that would help GC is kind of pointless. Didn`t work 5 years ago, not going to work now. UC is the cash cow, GC is just here for us old folks that don`t want to let go of it. |

99+ day(s) ago | VALJA battles won & lose should be added up.... cause like ARCH was saying about having wins they shouldnt really count considering 1 planet wins are the most common thing in this game & they dont even DP the person in the first hit alot of the time.... its a retarted win & a retartred incorrect show of a players true skills
But ya rewarding people based on how much they actviely fight would be a good thing. |

since SFGC "should" stay on as a game more on battle, why don`t the authority such as Maraudian "reward" any empires that can can fight more than 1000 battles with some goodies... STCs, minor gordos, regalos, etc... so every 1000 battles, these empires can be rewarded with some kind amount of goodies... definately a lot of battles will go on daily...
again... just a suggestion... :) |

99+ day(s) ago | btw Maraudian... apart frm the fighting and battle element in SFGC, it should had some side missions to entertain the restless ones... this shows that even the vets who fought a lot of battles aren`t around anymore... this game must go beyond the box...
sadly, some of us made our own missions to stay around... perhaps who can max the minerals? income? but then, after it`s all done... then what? once there are nothing for them to hang around, they might move on... it proves that SFGC doesn`t revolve only on battles...
to start any event that last few days will need a lot of attention frm the GMAs and at the end, there still be some bickerings among the players... but to start just any independent mission, it won`t take much toll for the time and effort frm the GMAs...
yea... yea... perhaps still need Stephen`s intervention on it... but it`s a suggestion frm the rest of us, normal players... how it`s going to happen, we don`t have the jurisdiction on it... so it`s still up to you all who have the authority and power that can make it happens...
