  l class rehaul?  

anyone else notice that at 1/2 fp to pr ratio really crudy for them maybe a

5k pr
4-5k attack
2.5-4k hull
8-9 range
and a modest 4 build rate? just something to have a
a missle spip for any pr ....

ye if u want to keep the numbers down I think u could make it so that u can only play D Maru on a server where u have completed a UW. Then maybe have a max of 6 (or wotever admin see fit)on each server, to keep the numbers down on rt

that`s good over 50k pr but like I said at low pr they are still overpowered. Personally I dont mind but it affects how ppl think about Guards and makes them think they are overpowered when they aren`t, not when played with tax income. So if we can cut out the strip mining route in some way then nobody will complain about improving some of the lame ships

i just want to point out in regards to the ore extraction reduction:

Getting several levels in mining, which is what strip mining guard have lots of, will eliminate this apparent drawback as will the C1 and C2 cluster mods when stacked with say level 30 mining (3 hours worth of research, if that).

So no, modifying mining/extraction times (both rely on the same mining mod mind you) will not impact on strip mining Guards that sit with 4 planets in NP then ruby/tourm spam you.

learn better defense against them like a single herc and your fine, failing that then you just suck and need to learn more about the game, sad but true

I`d support changes to the L class myself. I`ve been using the topaz and garnet pretty effectively recently, but I`ve never had too much luck with the emerald. I would definitely use them if they had a slight increase in missile damage. It may be useful to decrease the ore mining rate as others have stated also.

I`m still sorta of a new guard on Fast, but I can see how some of these changes mentioned would have their benefits.

ill be blunt and blatent , when i came to balancing G and L class , those who used the help center ( i didnt post a banner ) refused to allow them to become balanced ( big weakness`s ) the comments history and such are all easily searchable on the HC atm , so feel free to go browse.

ive said it a few times , ill do whats best and what the public want but i wont force idea`s on you all if you dont want them , this excludes ship build rate edits that resulted in ALOT of baised riots that bettered the game ALOT both present and future for all races

I stack as often as possible, unless down at 50k pr then a couple rubies and tourms are all thats needed, but higher than that i try to use at least 5-6 stacks, without any dummies. many of the guard ships are similar tho, there are some ships that are utterly useless. I have stopped using emeralds and Garnets for the reasons below, Xe and fodders. Use the battle simulator with emeralds and equal pr of any other shpis form any race, in defense it losess every time except against M.Flysch, but then loses again if the Flysche are at 130%. A ship like that has no use in a guardian stack, i have tried every anti-guardian ship there is from every race against it, its useless, desite its longer range, the only way it can win is if you spam a few stacks in defense, which defeats the theme of this thread, that its a good stacking ship. The garnet is slightly better, in that it can defend against miner ships, just about, on a 1:1 pr basis, at 130%, it loses as well. Where abouts in a stack would you propose it be used with these odds?

A reduction of 50% to the rate that ore is mined (or higher) might be in order, but again it`d require stephen i think to change a few things that maraudian doesn`t yet have the power to do (might be easier for stephen to GIVE the admins this power...effectively handing creative control over to him).

The reason guards don`t stack in attack is cuz a lot of the ships do actually suck, and a few are awesome. In my opinion they do need editting, like Moops said the emerald were useful against viral with the extra build rate but now they are pretty pointless I think the weapon PR needs to be increased. Topaz are ok cuz they have a higher hull ratio and they do their job in defence, if anything they could do with a little extra hull but it`s no biggy. Garnet are ok

Guards can seem overpowered when they are played without a big base PR cuz they really are. At low PR without a taxers` base ruby and tourm are rediculously over powered.

Darcknight suggested some decent updates for the ships a while back but I can`t remember what they were. They also need some kind of editting to their mods to stop ore mining being so productive, but that prob requires Stephen to do something?

Moops is pretty much on the money. L. class is mostly a stacking ship in my opinion. I think the problem most people have with L. class is the fact that spamming it on careful isn`t as effective as spamming other guard ships on careful. I see it kinda like the guardian equivalent of P. class though, it would certainly seem similar in its use of range and missile characteristics. This being the case, would it make sense to spam P. class on careful? Of course not. You stack with P. class for the best effect. The problem is, I don`t see many guards stacking, at least not on offense. The good guards will certainly stack of defense though, and considering the range advantage that L. class have over all its other guardian counterparts, why wouldn`t you use it? First strike can make a huge difference when it comes down to it. I think you guys should be a bit more appreciative of the fact that you have ships that can dish damage at a range of greater than 5. :)

Well, garnet is pretty well perfect, emerald WAS good at 2 per turn, now at 1 per turn its no good, granted it still builds fast, but not fast enough to make up for its ridiculously low hull, only thing good for it is to use as flank cause of its range and no retal
topaz is same as emmy, except with weapon, its just not strong enough, ive never used it

overall, i say no real edits necessary, i wouldnt complain about 2 emmy per turn, but everyone else would
topaz is the only ship that could use a overhaul, but realistically, i will never have the need for more than 2 stacks of L

They are complete dung, only thing they are good for is using missiles, but the Hun Xe gets rid of that advantage, their only other is high defence against missiles, but then they have defensive modifiers to every other weapon form. As a result of this, Fodders are much better for defense against missile, so what is the point in guardian L class where they stand? they have missile attack (Xe) and missile defense (fodder) no ship that is going to be thrown against us is going to fire only missiles but have a weakness to them. so what is the point in L class? they arnt even good against guard ships!
