Isn`t quite dead yet. People say that all the time and I`ve heard Maraudian say theres more people leaving than coming but it seems to me that its still got a ways to go. I see new players posting thread questions on forums on a regular basis and usually they get a good indepth response from one of us old players. All i have to say to the people who say GC is dying is perhaps you could put a bit of effort into stopping this process? Plenty of us do, especially those guides and admins, you do more than I`ll ever do, but I am always trying to help new palyers to the best of my abilities and am always giving advise and answering questions people send me. I have gotten several of my friends to play and urge them to become good players because its always fun to have people you actually know in this game even if your not on their team. I personally like this game quite a bit and will probably play while circumstances permit me to give the time. People complain about the lack of updates which is reasonable because amny are paying money for a game that Stephen should pay a bit more attention to. But we don`t want him to change the fundamentals or do anything to drastic in my opinion, simply smooth out little kinks GIVE US BACK OUR FORUM, and add some new content now and then. This game has evolved over time and has become nothing but better. Sure it could use a bit more attention but I disagree with TPE`s statement "this game is officially dead". Once again I don`t want to say that most of you guys do nothing, I`ve witnessed many of the old players doign their parts, but hopefully you guys are helping to recruit new players in the hopes that Stephen sees this and takes a more active interest. I`m sure we have all been daunted by statements like "you mean its just numbers?" or "you just explaining that game makes my brain hurt..." or even "OKAY OFFICIALLY THIS GAME IS DEAD" but remember to respect those with brain disabilities as well.

Once stephen put in all the extras for sale, that essentially made it possible for newbs to skyrocket to the top without much skill, that is when I left UC. I tried to make a comback on GC, and it was fun, until stephen did a minor `fix` of some ships, I left. I wish he would allow those that play and know the workings of the game to actually be involved with the decisions, and until he does that, it will continue to slide. I would like to see real changes, for the better, changes in ship mods, gameplay, and even new features. I would actually like to see turns and researching done even if you werent online, so that you could enjoy the game but not be on it 24/7. 365. Say you are getting to a new level, and it is 750 turns to do so, you can choose to click it manually, or you set up the computer with a simple menu, with the option to research for 24 hours, and whatever you gained in those 24 hours while being away you keep. And I know about the slower servers, but I like the fast-paced action of realtime. Im on a game now that does all research while you are online or not, it just has a timer for each level. That is great for those that have other commitments, or families, or school and work, but would help those that want to spend their limited time on fighting for planets or for coming out of dp. But anyway, I just wanted to pop in and give my 2 cents, and to say hi to Arch and others that I havent talked to in a long time... |

For me the emphasis has changed to the slower servers ...
And I think that`s true for a lot of people who have played GC. |

99+ day(s) ago | This game is almost dead. There arent enough new players to make up for the ones that leave. This game is stagnating. Im considering quiting GC and , in fact , going back to UC, like some of you have so kindly advised me to do so.
UC is stagnating to a degree, but still has hope.
The problem really is Stephen. Hes not active enough in either game. Both games have no advertising as well. If thats the case, then how are people supposed to find out
about the game?
I agree with lothor. Stephen is the reason why this game cant make any progress. Maybe he can sell it to this one guy on UC, who owns a multi - million corporation. At least that guy might actually invest in the game. |

before I disappeared about a year and a half ago, I was attempting to help on of the admins pin down one of the problems with viral capturing. And even though I had it all figured out, unfortunately, those at the top didn`t want to put forth the effort to actually fix it. |

99+ day(s) ago | sorry but though the game isn`t officially dead it is on life support. we`ve tried to revive it many time but it all comes down to stephen. if good ol` step wants to put some work into gc and let those of us who know the game inside and out help him in fixing the game the game could make a comeback. but there`s ONE big issue

you can have all the voulenteers you want to build something but if the person who is supplying the materials doesn`t help, you can`t work with nothing |

I totally agree with what you are saying by the way.
However, i played this game actively for 2 years and as more and more people left, it became less and less fun. So, i turned to Runescape. There is no shortage of Updates or players there.
I shall remain on SF for the time being but i am not very active. I hope someday that Stephen will get of his fat arse and actually advertise the game. How does he expect people to find out about it otherwise o.O
If he advertizes it, i don`t think he realizes that he can actually make money of this, and we get our game. Win win.
However he is too blind to see this... |
