IRC and how to get on

For anyone wondering about the infamous IRC (Internet Relay Chat) you see people talk about at time this is how you access it

If you have java on your computer you can access the Web based client at www.webbnet.info/irc

If you download a client like Virc, Mirc, Chatzilla etc you can enter the server as
irc.ca.webbnet.info:6667

if ca dosn`t work for you you can replace ca with any of the servers listed at
www.webbnet.info

some examples are
ca - california server
fl - florida server
be - europe server
can2 - canadian server

once on irc the main chat for the game is channel #spacefed
you can enter this channel by joining on connect or type /join in any text box

The best way to connect to IRC is to uninstall windows, format your hard drive, get yourself a distro of linux (any will do, but suse and gentoo are probably 2 of the best, maybe you could use ubuntu, even lothor could use that somewhat), install that distro of linux on your hard drive, take the time to set it up.

Voila, you`ll notice it already comes with at least one client for connecting to irc.

Parasite: what i normally do is google search Virc (my personal favorite, but Mirc is a bit easier to set up for a beginner) and use the top links :)

here`s one from google for downloading virc
http://www.apollo3.com/virc/main.htm

here`s mirc`s homepage
http://www.mirc.com/

the mirc homepage includes pages for download and instructions on how to install

as for the others i`ve never used them
