I know none of us are expecting anything on GC to ever change but if we COULD change it here`s something I think would be awesome:
If a successful UW launch occured the launcher should be given a jumpstart on their new race. This jumpstart could be in the form of starting with all ships researched (not for virals though... they`d still have to go out and get their own ships) and/or 30ish levels of research into the area that they choose. I was thinking u could maybe even give the Guardians that hard/impossible to research K. class ship... a UW launch is a fantastic achievement and deserves a better reward than the useless "now u can play as any race" ... yey...
I don`t imagine this would be tough to implement and it would give long time empires the needed incentive to say goodbye to all their research/planets etc etc etc.

99+ day(s) ago | AlphaRED: Yes there should be penalities for those who just do UW`s to boost their wins up, too many exploration UWs get set off. I`d say those that do do the exploration ones or simply fail loose half their infra and 90% of their resources.
As to a UW on RT, there wont be one while there is hand shaking going on with the top feds, we all saw what they did with KZ when it started doing it`s UW. |

Yes Power Uw`s can be great fun, and the past ones, ie BC or Distemper, if one was setting it off the other would go up and stop or try and stop it.
Virals are the most common, as all you see are thousands of angels and pyth spams, while guards are used to take out attackers. Simple really.
And if every big fed can`t be bothered with stopping a uw, then it will likely go off.
My point is if a collective, miner or probably even a terran sets off a uw then something has been achieved, as for viral uw`s, they happen so often and at times boring. /me awaits for flames. |

And really, if UW`s were that big a deal, how come the majority of the latest have been Viral.
Really, the only incentive needed to do a UW is to have your name up in the winning page. Handing anything else to players is NOT an incentive at all, it just has them doing another one within the space of a month.
As to doing a UW on RT, why bother, too much hand shaking going on with the top feds who dont want a UW since they dont wnat their cozy nest eggs call mineral hoarding hurt.
But what you are proposing will NOT help the game along. The game is MENT to be a challenge, not getting things handed to you on a silver platter, which is UC. This is GC, not that game.
And excuse me, what Arch suggested IS REMOTELY like UC. Getting Infra levels for nothing when you restart is like UC when you change race.
And the UW`s need to be more deadly before anything gets handed on silver platters.

99+ day(s) ago | And don`t forget about those gordo`d planets that could be created early last year. So let`s see, give up 100 levels of research, gordo`d planets (minor, in my case), all my planets, stockpiles of minerals and cash - nope, not interested in a UW.
Someone had it right on, when they said people do it when they want to restart as a different race - that was certainly the case for me. And of course, it doesn`t take a brain surgeon to realize that if you want to play a different race, you can start up an account on another server like Fast or RT... |

Some of us already got 2-3 nicks on the winners list. We have tried most races, and we dont understand why we should let go of ours 100+ research over and over again. When we, that often are most powerful, richest and got most resources dont want to do it - and we are strong enough to stop all others - well, then servers get very few UWs.
The ultimate weapon should be something good, not something bad you just do when you want to try another race or leaving the game.
I suggest one or two own races only available for those making an UW. These can be hard races, a real challenge for those who has played for a while. They can get only one chance, and if they mess it up they cant restart as the same race again. Then make it very very hard to get positive income - but with rewards for those able to use it the right way (for example)
Another option could be an own ship, only available for those who have made an UW. Or, that those who has finished an UW get some extra abilities on ships who already excists. (For example their juggs can do 10 extra kinetic damage pr. successful UW).
Lots os possibilities, but without Incentives the UWs will continue to be very very rare. They are among the most fun things in the game (to fight or support) and should be much more often :) |

DUDE. Do u realize what an accomplishment a succesful UW is? Likely the person launching it has stayed up for 48 hours straight playing as hard as he can and (in theory) fighting the whole server. I don`t play RT but I`ve heard how impossible it is to set off a UW there and if someone succeeds I think a reward should absolutely be given! Being able to play as any race and having your name in the Hall of Fame are fine but I`m proposing something more, and I believe that what I`m proposing is very important to helping the game along.
UWs are the biggest and most exciting events in this game but they rarely are even attempted for various reasons, one major one being that nobody wants to give up everything they`ve worked for for a year + time so that they can have their empire brought down to zero! That`s obvious...
SO! You offer them a jumpstart on their new race - now launching a UW doesn`t look so bad anymore. You`ll be back in the action in no time.
And what Arch is proposing isn`t even remotely close to what ur accusing him of. Being online for 48 hours and fighting the entire server or merely restarting are ABSOLUTELY NOT COMPARABLE. |
