I dont know about other marauders, but I have always observed the unwritten rule that we do not attack other members of our race (unless they have a big unplundered planet count) because you know that hitting another maru wouldnt result in your obtaining colonies of value (because that maru prob already plundered them). As a fairly low powered race, I would have thought we would be just hitting the others and not preying on eachother? Thoughts? |

someone once told me that 2 marus fighting is like 2 ret**ds fist fighting in a dark room :P its hard to win if ure both evenly stacked but meh if ure desperate for some borders pyth spam on careful makes short work of other marus :) |

99+ day(s) ago | The average plunder maru money making stradegy: hide in np or dp until you scope out a good lookin target, jump out and smack em, then hit everyone around them until you either plunder down, or get more dp.
Now im not saying that maru cant be played at a high pr, but its pretty hard to pull that off above 10 mil. Ive had my share of high pr fighting (not just pyth spamming up to 100 mil for 10 minutes, real fighting) back in 04-05 and its very possible and very fun if you do it right. but just cause XPC says they are low power race doesnt mean he needs mental help lol, hes right.
but anways, to the original point, i try to my best to avoid hitting fellow marus ^_^ unless its a counter or im bored, or they jumped in planet count.... lol |

99+ day(s) ago | a pure marauder fleet will usually get wiped out easily if it comes across the wrong ships ( mainly ranged ships such as thor / garu )
so unless its a spam its very risky to go to high power with just pure marauder ships |

meaning they rarely go high pr and only do so either to stalk something juicy , or personal reasons such as fun , someone you dont like , UW`s , claiming turf and so on |

99+ day(s) ago | the problem with marus and "high pr" is that on RT and ultra you earn your money while lurking in dp and milking your planets. that way empire`s have way more money - or rather most of them have, plundering races such as marus can get little money that way (you only till your pop gets there so you can plunder)
on slower servers everybody has so earn as they go. in result you get lower "Total Turns Used per Each Battle" ratio, lower PRs and ... marus jumping a bit higher...
there`s more to that but my hands got cold and i`m tired
hell, will you ever stop thinking about RT and turn-based as of the same game? its not. balance sets differently! |

I am NOT saying Marauder is a bad race, I am one I love the ships they work well but its not a high power high income race. I have gone up to 100 mil as a marauder, and it sucked pretty hard on my cash (and took a while to get back). Do not get power level and ship power confused. Although marauder ships are cheap, we still dont go very high because we only have a couple of large ships (pyth, angel). I dont understand how this could be denied, marauders stay low 90% of the time on RT, and rarely do you see one in the 10 millions. Ship power does not = average race power/income level. Now what I said origionally was considering the fact that we rarely have good planets and we all have the common goal of stealing other peoples clusters, plundering em, and making them cry why isnt there more of a friendly attitude towards eachother? Maybe im just too nice towards other marus. |

if the player is an active good fighter , pretty much everyone would avoid him/her
if its a low inactive not very good fighter , even other maru`s would have a bite |
