  Update Suggestion  

Make the bonus cash you get when using turns out of DP not only a proportion of your actual income, but have it set up so the longer your out of DP, the more cash you get (maybe an increasing multiplier for each hour...).

This would encourage people to try and stay out of DP, and give a big bonus to those who manage to stay out for hours on end... Thoughts?

Bad idea, macbeth... that rewards only the high PR players, pretty much. Those that never get attacked.

that`s lame. fix the upkeep on the maru ships for virals first so they dont go to max pr and make 50bil in two turns.

instead of getting crab arti`s why no next holiday or event the entire server get a 22k on their border. And just to make thing intresting ban arti`s for 24 hours, counters and have everyones dp expire at same time according to geographic hemisphere.
And -5% penalty for being in dp and +25% to income for being out of dp should stir things up some

Actually I think my fav is faster turn generation for longer and longer amounts of time out of dp. This way at least the empire won`t directly be receiving money - maybe they will choose to build a nice stack or to hit more people.

After reading through I have some musings heh:. If the amount of money you get is based on merely being out of dp for a longer time period, then you are possibly encouraging people NOT to attack one another but rather to spend all their turns building out of reach. You could then argue that they would attack the people that were going to attack them, thus staying out of dp longer... which is valid I suppose. But then say you do get hit and get dp, then even if you pop back out right away to fight again or w/e, will the modifier have reset back to its lowest level?

Macbeth`s idea does sound pretty good though... maybe make a modifer so those with more planets get more cash...? I know... the rich get richer... but at least on paper they are putting much more at risk than tiny empires when they are out of dp.

Basically, its this simple, a big viral out for a good day can easily use his extra turns to knock others down, thus restarts thier out of dp counter and he can just use his regular turns or cash, and his out of dp counter is thus extended for a few more hours, or even a day, not that hard to explain.

I have a great idea to add to this one Salyn, aswell as the modifier increasing the longer you are out, there is also a modifier for how low in power you are... ;) this applies for creds/food/cgs/minerals produced.. and omeg i dont see how my origional idea can be exploited on turn servers without its drawbacks. ie you have to come outa dp

Hmm,
1) the problem i have is that scouting outside of DP will do nothing to your luck of finding a bigger planet, its just useless here whether you scout in or out of dp

2) Not losing a fleet if you win on defense is kinda of just saying that they can just retaliate you with thier perfect fleet if you lost more of course, they should lose fleet as well.

I believe its best to keep this as simple as possible, cash and turns.

3) Reduced upkeep, im viral already has enough reduced upkeep with maru ships, thats just going to make that worse ...

whatever the proposal, there needs to be a cap. Not a modifier without limits. We should reach a cap lets say after a period of 20 hours with increments every hour. That would even out the benefits achieved by being at high PR vs at low PR.

From a game-dev perspective, you folks are probably considering this to increase player interaction (fights) and thus improving GC marketability. The correct question would be then : What would encourage you to get out of DP at lower level PRs and stay out of DP even if you go offline?

1) If you win a battle (on defense) and you are under a certain PR (let`s say 10M), you don`t lose ships?

2) Scouting power increase by x% out of DP?

3) Reduced Upkeep / Turn

On Slower turn servers, that can be abused somewhat easily than RT, but i dont mind the idea of the extra turns, though that will have problems as well about being abused on a slower turn server.

You could have the top 5 players on a turn based server making alot more cash and storing alot more turns then someone in the top 5-10 that are trying to either play the top 5, but cant stay out of dp for days since they just get spammed back down. But, i will look into this further, but that is how im seeing it right now :S

well i want the upkeep on re`d maru ships to be increased, also the bonus needs to be corrected so that you get bonus food/cgs/and minerals... so this wouold benefit all income styles.
