the reason being minor currently has 2 missile ships that build way too slow to counter guard spammers in an arms race, a +1 range will make it more effective in chasing them up the ranks
also in general for teh lyth to be truly effective and not just used as a fast PR jump for a counter for low/mid pr battles.
give me feed back please, if enough positive feed back is got for this it will hopefully get implimented.
the other miner issues regarding starbases and lictor will be addressed soon.

BadSicilian 99+ day(s) ago | miner can BARELY keep up with guard with lyth...just barely. and its only really good in defense...not offense. ruby pwnz it in both tho. tourm isn`t as troublesome, but since ruby is better and build faster whats the guard gunna build? :\ also, whats the guard gunna hit on? careful. which would thusly take the usefulness of the range advantage the lyth had and throw it out of the window. |
Gilead 99+ day(s) ago | Hiig: with all the alteration, and mutations and counter proposals concerning the changes of the L and G class, I am not sure what ships will be usefull to attack Guards with.... I guess I will have to wait untill the `updaters` post a final proposal, or wait untill they have executed the update...
of course if you build destroyers you have more weapon-pr (and probably hull-pr), but if a guard builds a handfull of turns of Guard ships, its pretty hard to catch up with destroyers..... that was the reason (at least that was what I understood of this whole thread) to propose range 7 for Lyth..... with Lyth a A.Miner can keep up with a Guard.... |

Gilead> Lyth with range 6 can be done if the shield mod is better. as long as the Lyth had been improved, i dont think we need a `too good` Lyth which might ruin other ships like Flysch, A.Aragonite n other Miner ships.
also, u shouldnt need a ship to be a Guardian killer (missile ships?) for Miner. with the new L n G class come in, missile is no longer a best way to deal with.
anyway, quick pr? i bet some ppl forgot that the less pr u had, the more dmg + hull u get per pr. u can have the old Lyth which was a high pr missile ship to if u still want a quick build, then there is no point to propose Lyth update. |

but if we keep Lyth at 6, we still haven`t solved the problem this thread started out with.... namely that A.Miner dont have a quick PR build missile ship that outranges a good number of Guard ships..... |

sure upkeep is high -- but for miner income (10-20mil/turn easy with mineral sell) it`s comparable

I think the 7 range is better, but the nerfs don`t hurt it too much. Pull down the shields some more?
Both ships are pretty good, not overpowering or anything. |

Lyth with range 7:
it is more offensive. of course, the ships cost n upkeep will be HIGHER. but, with the HIGHER pr + LESS hull + NO DEFENSE + NERFED sheild mod, they r not really god-liked, i already test it out. most of the ships still can beat it. but, it is hard to kill thise Lyth due to its RANGE increased.
i not really like a range 7 Lyth. of course, if majority go to range 7, this will be an example for reference.
Lyth with range 6:
i highly recommanded this mod on the Lyth. as u can see, alot LESS pr with the same hull + MORE weapon + BETTER shield mod, it can withstand more incoming penalty now. the cost n upkeep will slightly REDUCE.
dont tell me it cant beat Ruby, it just like the Nirvana which cant kill Ruby n some range 7 ships but this Lyth better than the old version, balance, and suit for most situation just like Nirvana. |

Um yeah the lyth seems alright -- it`s not much better than the old since people used to just lyth spam, but no-defense weakens that a bit.

I wouldn`t change the weapons, or swap them. As said at the start of this thread, making Lyth range 7 would make it good against Guardian ships... if you then take missile damagae away, it leaves the Lyth useless against Guard ships again.... and the energy weapons make it at least a bit usefull against Hercs (certainly not make it Kinetic). And giving it 3 kinds of weapons wold make it too good probably.... |
