To put it quite simply, I was almost shot today. If any of you are familiar with the City of Chicago, you know what the "L" is. It`s an Elevated train system that goes through the city. Much like a Sub Way, Only it`s above ground most of the time. Well, Myself, and several friends were riding the "L" home after a show. We were talking, minding our buisness, ETC, when a Black Man, about 5`9" and 150 Pounds, approaches us, telling us to give him Ciggerettes. I refuse, as does the rest of my group. Then, He asks us for money, again, we refuse. Then, he begins yelling about the way we were dressed, b*tching about Punk Rock, and punching a window. He then called over his friend, another Black Man, about 6`0" , 200 pounds. The first guy, proceeds to wrest my friend`s phone from his hand. My friend and I demand it back, and I started getting up, thinking that I could take the guy, and would simply get the phone back by force. He stops, and asks us if we want to get shot. And starts pulling a Hand Gun from his sweat shirt. He tells us he has another as well.
He walked away, and got off the train with a free phone. I walked away still alive.
I love my city, and for the most part, like the people in it. I`ve had knives pulled on me before, because I stand up for myself, and people are afraid of that. But I find myself wondering. What had happened if he had pulled it a second later? What if I had attacked him as I was about to? I`d not be here now, and that fact frightens me. I can and have stopped knives before, but you can`t stop a bullet. A bullet is eternal. A Bullet can end all, very quickly.
So I, Don/Travvivian, Go to bed. Feeling less than ever, feelings of love for my fellow man. And more than ever, my own mortality.
Sorry for telling you all this. But I still don`t know how to react to this. |

Travvivian is a name I came up with whilst Starwars RPing back in 2003/2003. I forgot it, and joined GC in last `03. Became disintrested, and quit. Then in `04 when I rejoined, I recalled the old Starwars name, and used it. =] |

Im glad u havent been shot but it is a big scary world. Anyway good thing u safe :) |

CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) Does have it`s own security/police, however, the Chicagoland area is comprised of over 9.5 million people. Those few security officers can be only so many places at once....
We did call the Police, and they gave us a case number. Which will undoubtedly be the end of it. But yes, I do hope dearly that I find this guy again someday, without his gun.
Oh, and eclipse. I know what you are talking about. That`s in rediculously backwards, rural areas only. Most cities have gun-bans. However, this only ensures that the criminal element has the most weapons. |
