Eternus 2006-11-06 | | Client Installation in Firefox | | This guide is aimed at all firefox versions above 1.5
First you need to choose and obtain your client, instructions for GC in yellow
instructions for UC in Blue
GC only has one client, to access it go to options-> client
Here click on Zip- Miror 2 (the other link doesn`t work) and download the client to a
relevant place.
UC has 2 types of clients to choose from, the full client and the small client
you can read the descriptions of these and download them, from options-> Get Client
Choose the one that suits you best and download it in the format that suits you best
(Note: if downloading the Zip-exe type this is a self extracting installer you need to save it as UC.exe [ensure you change the extension to . not _exe])
Now you need to install the client, extract it (copy all the files from the enclosed UC folder) to the proper place
For GC this is C:\GC\GC
For UC this is C:\GC\UC
Next comes the more complicated part,
In firefox open up a new tab or window, and type about:config into the address bar and press return
in the section entitled Filter: type security.check and hit return again
You should see security.checkloaduri double click it to change its value from true to false
Hit refresh
Go to This Page
and save the file indicated at the top of the page [rename it user.js from whatever its called] somewhere easy to get.

Prozac 99+ day(s) ago | i have problems with IE 7.0
Any sugestions on how to fix those? |
Binge 99+ day(s) ago | well, everything is pretty much on target.. the only thing you need to fix is, the file you have to edit is called `prefs.js` and not user.js
i had the profile folder, i guess i was just looking in the wrong place |
Eternus 99+ day(s) ago | Hmm that was a typo, should be above 1.5 corrected now, however, Binge if you can give me some more info either here or in PMs to my RT account i`d be greatful |
BoomZilla 99+ day(s) ago | lmao
"This guide is aimed at all firefox versions about 1.5 "
Just in time for FF 2.0 |
Binge 99+ day(s) ago | finally figured it out. the file that i had to edit was prefs.js, not `user.js`
hooray! im finally using the client :) |
Beleth 99+ day(s) ago | binge, your application data folder will be different if your using 9x
Googling will point it to you |
Binge 99+ day(s) ago | hmm doesnt work for me, i don`t have that profile folder
i tried creating it, that didnt work..
i tried just putting the file in the main Firefox/ path, that didnt work
i tried alot of things.. oh well
i have firefox 2.0
i think i remember firefox 1.5 having that profile folder.. if i downgrade it would probably work
but nah, ill stick with 2.0 |
Eternus 99+ day(s) ago | Now you need to find your Mozilla profile folder
Note: in some cases it has been reported that this folder does not exist
Usually this is in C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
There should be an 8 letter alphanumeric sequence xxxxxxxx.default
Open the folder and copy the user.js file into the folder.
Alternatively
If you have the prefs.js you can right click and open with notepad to edit this to include the following Note: it`s been reported that you need to close the browser first THEN alter the prefs.js file or it will delete any changes
user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "localfilelinks");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.sites", "http://www.gamestotal.com http://uc.gamestotal.com http://uc1.gamestotal.com http://uc2.gamestotal.com http://uc3.gamestotal.com http://gc.gamestotal.com http://gc1.gamestotal.com http://gc2.gamestotal.com http://gc3.gamestotal.com http://spacefed.com");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.checkloaduri.enabled", "allAccess");
Close down firefox and restart the computer. When you come back login and return to
where you downloaded the client.
If it says Client detected , installation is successful and the client should now work.
With thanks to Binge and Kraven for input
