Fair points, your comparison between you and dr is fair and I`d probably agree you should probably receive more than 1 point over him.
@Someonenew / baa
This logic encourages all players to join the same side to get the maximum rewards regardless of their own contribution. Joining the winning side required no effort whatsoever, yet rewarding the winning side with a large amount of points says everyone should always join the same side no matter what. Obviously that`s not ideal.
@Rambo
Your opinion is noted.
@Brumen
Event points have not been given out yet so everyone should still be at 0 while Targs finalizes the reward structure.

Brumen 15 hour(s) ago | I thought may be rewards would take into account tokens but also the net worth of players who earned them. I had absolutely no problem building large fleets to attack the event, because I run a rich terran empire. Some other players did fight the events, though, at lower pr due to their lower amount of resources, or sacrificed a fat part of their assets to hit them.
And, oh, by the way, my in-game event point count is 0 at this time.

Rambo 23 hour(s) ago | "If you are unhappy with the event or the rewards that eventually finalize, I encourage you to keep in mind this is provided entirely free to you for your entertainment. You are always free to play something else or not participate"
You can think this in your head, but saying it publicly to the playerbase is terrible PR and lacks any sort of charisma or understanding of social dynamics |
KnightOfBaa 23 hour(s) ago | Oh no nobody wanted to play with them... I wonder why ... Ahh it`s okay we will just not reward players for winning and spending over 100 hours on the event, spending loads of time figuring out shields range specials etc, working as a team coordinating many people into attack orders, nah what we will do is just point out that one team had more active players instead and dung on them for doing so
The opposite team gave up as soon as they realised the effort required to win. The moment we took a big lead. They had every opportunity to win this event, looks at phase 1 was very close even though they had "less" active players.
At the end of the event there was 20 on one side and 17 on the other side. It is NOT the winning sides fault that the opposing team did NOTHING to help their team. They had the turns time and everything else that we had available to them to be able to win. |
Someonenew 25 hour(s) ago | If for winning it’s only 1 or 2 I see no point in trying to win. It’s just participation medals at this point.
Also the fact you had 7-8 active people isn’t our sides fault. You had more active people who didn’t get involved that you could have got involved. We got old players and friends to come back and get back involved which you should have done/ could have done aswell. Your guys gave up when they realised they thought they couldn’t win, which is on your mentality and we shouldn’t be punished.
I do agree with the attacks at the start compared to the end should be viewed differently, hitting at the end was farming while at the start was a real slog. |
Triton 30 hour(s) ago | @J
1. I agree with your point about winning or losing. I think 1-2 points for the winning side is fine. If too many points are assigned based purely on winning vs losing, it very easily disincentives one side based on how early scoring looks
Individual contribution should 100% be the primary basis of rewards
2. I`ll use myself and DrLatBC as an example around why I am frustrated by the reward scaling here because we`re the top ranking players on each side without rank rewards
Phase 1 saw 24K points from Dr 18K from me.
Dr wins that round but Id say relatively speaking we`re in the same ball park.
Phase 2 Docs 2K 30k from me
Total Drlatbc 27.1k me 48.4K
Now to me, Id look at that and say ok, fairly even phase 1, very different phase 2, Tritons probably going to end up with a good deal more than Doc in rewards. But the end result here is 7 to Triton and 6 to Doc.
Thats the sort of gap Id look at and be like well shoot, this sucks, I guess I should have just sat out phase 2 of the event as well. I could have done 15 levels of infrastructure instead of sitting there making hits for the week.
It then makes me disinterested in future event participation beyond maybe a few hours of participation on day 1 to make sure I scrape together the easy points.
As far as weakening ship stats during event, that has less to do with my specific callout here, but I do recognize how that COULD have led to some frustrations had anyone jumped in last day after not participating for a week and racked up points.
Theres a separate solve for that though and its just rewarding event points by a different ratio every time the ships weaken, similar to how reward points were adjusted between phase 1 and 2.

KingGud 32 hour(s) ago | I again appreciate Tarth’s as he did this entirely on his flown time and imitative and that far outweighs any cons and not having an event at all |
JJtheJetPlane 32 hour(s) ago | Disclaimer, I am not assigning points so take this as my opinion and thoughts more than an assertion.
Points must have significantly reduced scale growth because token gain was warped wildly with overwhelmingly significant nerfs to the event, nullifying any real attempt at balanced damage. At the end it was absolutely the correct answer to just spam emerald non-stop to print tokens. That should not be rewarded higher than those who spent more turns efficiently earlier for much less token value. If the weaknesses had been maintained to the end, the token distribution would look completely different.
Winning this particular event should not be rewarded very highly. The reality is, throughout the majority of it there were ~15 active participants on the collective side, and ~7-8 active participants on the miner side. I make no argument for why that is, it`s irrelevant to my point. With the current point scale, which may change, I would only value winning at most +2 points. The active participants from both sides put in significant effort and the effort is what should be rewarded for an event like this. Future events should do a much better job at ensuring balanced competing sides, if competing sides exist at all.
Turns-used is not a reliable indicator of anything other than time spent. Time spent is valuable, but this event was originally about figuring out optimal ships to hit with and coordinating with your faction to ensure good hits. Turns are secondary to that, anyone could have use 5k turns to do 0 dmg and that should not be rewarded. I saw an enormous amount of inefficient attacks that were not targeting primary weaknesses until the aforementioned overwhelming nerfs kicked in.
Overall a good first event from Targs and I`m sure future events will be better still. If you are unhappy with the event or the rewards that eventually finalize, I encourage you to keep in mind this is provided entirely free to you for your entertainment. You are always free to play something else or not participate in any event, regardless what rewards may or may not be.

Jealousy doesn`t suit you KingGud. When you want to learn how to play this game from real players hit me up. |
Triton 33 hour(s) ago | Why are the rewards diminishing to such an extreme?
Someone who get 99k points only gets 2 more rewards vs someone who got 11k contribution? |
Rambo 35 hour(s) ago | Put > 1T marauder moneys and over 30k turns into attacking and I still can`t afford the 10 EP 3x PCC that I really wanted, feels pretty bad |
KingGud 35 hour(s) ago | maybe get a life baa instead of playing 150 hours |
Targs Game-Admin 35 hour(s) ago | I agree Baa, +1 for the winning side is low. I`ll see if we can modify that. |
KnightOfBaa 35 hour(s) ago | +1 for winning the event niiiiiiiice what youve done there is say
"thanks for putting in ALOT more effort in then the opposing team but what you get in return is a kick in the balls"
maybe in the future the rewards are laid out in advanced so people can decied if its worth spending 150 hours on a event or not
thanks for the effort you put in though |
