Also, I am sorry this thread caused fuzz. When i posted I didn`t even know Ender had taken them from Mtz...either way, personally I don`t think hording clusters, even when knowing it will be tough to hold them, is punishable. Going into vm can be strategic, personal or just out of pure boredom but its each to their own. Of course good planets would be better in the hands of people who know how to use them but how can one judge who can and who can`t. |

Opvs losing his c`s will not affect the food market in anyway. It`s been high lately thanks to buyouts, and the largest taxers stopped using turns because food was so low for so long.
I alone can nearly feed the entire server at a reasonable price if I had the inclination to use turns again. That`s not your worry.
As for ore, I suggest you just ask around. Plenty of people have huge stores and are willing to post. |

My base PR is too high to fight off the entire server (and it seems like it would be the entire server with the amount of publicity this has generated)
I can`t cut down my infrastructure to give myself a fighting chance because I have 10k ore, and I`ve seen less than 200k posted in the 3 months I`ve been active. If I cut down my infrastructure, I might as well just perma VM or plunder the planets because it would probably be a year before I could build them back up again. I have made several posts over the past couple months about ore on RT to the minerals thread, it`s really a problem that`s been an issue for me for a while.
Even if I CAN maintain borders with 4 million base PR, the combo of the server losing a 30k fert and a taxer gaining a couple hundred k`s of land has thrown food prices all to heck. If I kept playing normally, food prices would just keep climbing and not only would I make little to no money, but most of the other taxers wouldn`t either.
I thought about it for a bit. Used some turns, then went into VM. Maybe the situation will change in the next week. Maybe magical ore will appear and I will be able to come out and fight. Maybe some Food giant who has been sleeping in VM will wake up and start selling things again. Or maybe not much will change and I`ll take another little nap. We`ll see. |

99+ day(s) ago | A word from me about VMing in general. I`ve played this game for like 9 years now, and there`s plenty of you that have been around years longer than me. For as long as I`ve been playing people have been making threads like this whenever someone who has nicer planets than them VM`s, and I almost guarantee more than half of the people who have whined about VM have hypocritically used VM to their own advantage at least once, if not several times, over the last decade. Have I been annoyed by another person VMing before? Of course I have, but I`ve never whined in the forums about it because I`ve never thought that I had more of a right to determine what someone else does with their empire, and their colonies than they themselves do. And for the argument that this is the same thing as enslaving someone, climbing to a high power, and then VMing, there`s one major difference between the two. Enslave VMing affects someone else`s game playing experience in a substantial and negative way, VMing to protect clusters literally affects no one else`s game playing experience. After all, they are that persons planets, they`ve earned them (whether they built them, or captured them), and if they wanted they could plunder them without owing an explanation to anyone.
To the couple of people who are whining the most, where were you when Opvs came out of DP? It`s not like it was a surprise, his days since last log in counter was ticking down for like a week. MtzComeback was literally the only other person there, and in my opinion the only person that has any right to feel jaded (besides Opvs, and he was more than gracious to me once the dust had settled). I was out of DP for a whopping 8 hours and had time to get 9 borders (I chose to plunder 2 C2`s and a C1 just to make more room) before someone finally put me in DP. |
