Well i`ve had an idea for an event on rt now for a while, Hopefully something to break up the stagnation. If there`s enough support for the event then this is what would happen.
First off people would sign up, then they would be possibly randomly assigned to staff made feds by me (2-3 feds)
then for a solid month they would fight for the ranks any for wins, posting their wins in the forums with how many colonies they won or a defensive wins or what have, then after that month long period the fed with the most colonies won from members of the other fed(s) would get prizes, and there would also be participation prizes awarded to the losers and those from either side with the most colonies won or biggest capture or what have you....when enough people show interest I will put more work into the prizes and how you can qualify for them, but right now i`m thinking of letting winners choose from a selection of prizes including clusters, artifacts, loyalty, perhaps some more special like a one time only colony revival, or Mineral/credit prizes.
The reason for this event is to inspire people to fight again, mix up the power blocks and pit friend against friends for a while and have people team up with people they never considered teaming up with.
I will try to spread active people, and unexplorable people out among the feds that one it doesn`t come up randomly one sided with say all guards in one fed, or one fed of people who average 8 hours a day versus people who average 2 hours online a day.
It should also give newer players a chance to learn from the more experienced or vice versa.
I think it would be best to set a power rating cap for all groups say 100 mil -150 mil pr to keep people from running from the fun. maybe make it so there`s no fed war, I could even fill up the top 5 to prevent top 5 bonus if that`s what people want. All the particulars and rules of engagement could be decided on and talked over.
Though should anyone leave their fed, during the event they would be disqualified and forfeit any prizes they may have won, also no one would be allowed to join after feds are set. And people must join the fed they are assigned too.
I should also hope people would take this as a nice friendly event and not do underhanded tactics like giving wins to people in another fed, or giving borders or what have you.
This is after all a game, if you can`t hit your friends and steal all their goodies, then shake hands and laugh later on then they`re hardly friends then huh.
Well post your comments and concerns to below and if there`s enough support I will figure out the rest of the particulars, Tell your friends to read and comment.
Also forgot to mention, fed leaders can join in while your away your fed will be kept alive by an NPC one that only i know the PW too so you don`t have to worry about your fed dying or going to someone you don`t trust.

99+ day(s) ago | I understand. Thanks for giving us fun events. I can`t complain about that. I know its like trying to run a game with your hands tied behind your back sometimes. If we can make DM work I know alot of us are really looking forward to that. And the E class ships too. I am just worried that we put alot of work in to maintaining active feds and having them split up may not have a positive effect. And I don`t wanna have to crush my friends win ratios either that would be sad for them :) |

99+ day(s) ago | Umm I only play this game to be with my friends. There`s a reason why we are in the same fed on every server. I don`t mind talking to other people and being friendly but I enjoy the fed system as it is. People chose which Feds they want to be in. It balances itself out pretty nicely as you can see how rabies has grown so strong. It`s hard enough as it is to keep a fed at 21 members of good active fighters without admins trying to split them up... |

Which is to allow people the option to help break up the stagnation of RT, breathe new life into the server, and of course allow people to mix things up trying something new. While we could do it on the DM it would really just be more of a structured DM at that point, and would just be better suited at that point to just be a normal DM with a lower fed member cap. One last point being as EE has stated this is something which if does take place will be months down the line, and obviously announced well before due to the nature of the event under discussion. So you`re talking something no less than 3-4 months away if this even does go past this discussion phase.. just something to keep in mind.
The DM Server also faces several issues i haven`t detailed, and would need fixing. A lot of the issues require me to do many hours of extensive manual maintenance to a very absurd degree.
So yes while the DM server is technically viable as EE said, it is not technically stable or ideal to use as it sits right now.

But I`m just thinking for the newer player. Those newer player who can`t manage to buy any minerals and their minerals is deeply affected by uw, maybe we can`t give them a boost. Maybe 500k of those minerals where they are running short of.
Suspect those with high planet count would miss out the fun. Maybe we could give out 10PCC to all empires who joined the event. And those PCC can`t be use after the event. |
