At some point, we have to ask ourselves: is GC supposed to be an economy game or a skill based combat game?
Because right now, it`s very much an economy game, and with ships like lyth, it makes things even worse.
As long as you build up an economy properly, or choose an economy heavy race (aminer) then you can spam to your hearts delight and win without having to think.
Should we nerf lyth, or accept that economy > skill in fighting? |

99+ day(s) ago | Vendeen you lose the battle cause your queen died & you failed to wipe him out completely. Lyth had nothing to do with that battle. Any ship that would of survived Nirvana on defense in 3rd stack would of won the battle for the defender. |

on careful it beats queens/runners.
on aggro it beats fodder. As I recall, anything beats fodders because they don`t fire back, right?
Calcite and Chlorite will completely bounce off fez, they get owned by it.
Lyth also beats herc in many situations. Yes, it will lose to angel/topaz (hard counters to lyth)
Angel is a strong ship, but how many maruders do you see hanging around in the ranks?
Topaz is a strong ship, but spamming pure topaz is suicide because it`s just as bad as spamming pure chlorite or calcite. You will get fez`ed and die a horrible death :P |

Yes they`ll kill a lot more fez than the Calcite and Chlorite, but still not nearly as much as any of the other a-miner no retal ships. (I mean the race specific ones, not the neutral Fez ships.) |

99+ day(s) ago | chlorite and calcite both suck at spamming. Even if you had unlimited turns to make a fleet at a certain PR, you should never chose those ships as pure spam ships.
Anything fez related blocks them. Herc/topaz/angel(angels slightly less so) murders them.
In addition, chlorite has extremely low hull. Not something you want for a spam ship. |

This game is a well balanced mix of economy and skill in fighting. Sure, there is a lot of economics used for the game (it IS an empire building game after all), but that is only one layer. I believe I speak the general census when I say the majority play this game for the deep and complex battles. |
