  New Ship Class: Assault Carier  

I took this idea from Halo and from Star Wars:

"A Capitol Ship with Vast Unimaginable Power equipwd with over 200 samll cannons and one Huge Laser. Automatically comes with 50 Fighters. But takes 10 Turns B/C of it`s size and armament"

Hull: 100,000
Range: 20
Scanner Rating: 3000
Power Rating: You don`t want to know......


What do you guys think? Should i tone that down a little or should i even thing about it at all?

First of all, changing ships design for every race would be very stressing to developers. Any inbalance will produce massive complains in the forum. So i highly doubt they want to do that. Try making games and ull see what im talking about.
Well, Since I never go into the army and take absolutely no interest in them. I dunno much about them. Hence, pardon me if im wrong.
In the real world, there is only 1 race(human), 1 technology line. Since there`s no other technology to compare, we can easily see upto date eq as improvement. But I think any upto date stuff always have the same characteristics only more efficient etc(at least that`s what they always say). In this game, there are others tech line. All have their own characteristic. While we dont have control of it, There may be improvements in all technology. Since all tech grows, the comparison charts are still the same.

Not sure what to think of power or upkeep but range I would of thought would be 6....Surely with the power n hull that has been discussed that range would be more the enough....Still either way its a bloo dy good topic....couple of new ships would really start throwing peoples stacks as they try to work out what is and isnt gonna work....lets face it in the real world our armies/navy`s and airforce retire equipment and buy new tanks/ships/planes that are upto date...a change every 6-9-12mths on every races ships(and im talking about retiring one, and replacing with a new one) might spice things up...Just a thought....oh and god help Green Yedi and his battle calculator if it was implemented!! lol

power should be high but it should take tons of turns to raeserch 15000 would be good it should cost a lought have a high upkeep and uses lots of minerals and a range of 8

i like the idea, that during an uw, you get anotherextra class of powerfull ships.

Oterwhise, i dont see only the slightest chance, that the carrier idea gets implemented. Even the most necessary fixes of the currently available ships are performed....

no protossfederation that would be unfair on the newbies i think 15 000 reaserch would be fair considering that if it was made it would be stronger on a juggernaught as for people with the UW no they will easily set it of and if they do they start agian got to be fare

lol HYBRID I admit it`s a great idea but it`s gonna take a REALLY good stacker to take it out on one attack.

lol how about we only allow it for players over 1 mil PR? Or players with UW only. That would be a nice/more strategical approach.

yeah its a good idea but the ships scanner rating should be detrmind by the ships inside and its power and resistence to damge but on the other hand the game makers could just make up a simpler version but because of its power it would take 4500 turns of reaserch or above because of its power there should be special effects for every one not just virals gaurdians and collective and marauder
but also teran and a minner it would be a good idea to have a repair ability because of engineres in side its ability should be gives extra stacks in battle from its hanger to destroy it u could have critacal systems of star wars like united federation said it would be good to have sheilds that take tons of punishment and
when they go down its weakness eg ECM ironized hull was exposed and u have to take it out by shuting down control systems eg sheilds defence falls then scanners range drops hevey cannons attack drops command brigde destroyed means dead

Uhh.. RareHunter, isnt this post about new ship idea? of course it wont be balanced! IT`S NEW IDEA! Can we do anything perfectly without failing first?
I`m 70% sure, u are playing Guardian atm or used to.
Oh n it`s easy to react to ur opinion. eg. "removing mineral costs on guardian ships??, *pfft... mega crabtastic and imbalanced! Thanks, newbie FTW!"

Only fools say bad things about other belief or idea. Smart one will improvise. That`s the reason we are given brain no?

Anyway my Idea:
1. Carrier with little to no defensive weaponry, holds any type of smaller ships. Gives repair ability, Chances to avoid getting destroyed even tho the hull reaches 0. But there`s high chance that the ships within will get destroyed if the carrier is destroyed.
2. Improvement from 10 stacks limit. Carriers are available for all races. It can hold limited amount of various ships.
3. Provides powerful defensive shield that absorbs all damages on the battlefield. So this ship will die first before all other ships.
4. Well rounded medium range ship with additional smaller ships as cannon fodder and damage dealer. Small Ships will need to produced and inserted manually.

To whiner out there. I have a quote for u:

Summary? I dont give a dang about ur whining.

You should be able to switch the ships it carries with it, which would change the weapons, that would be cool.

+The ship itself should have SOME weapons and defences of its own.

all these ships designs are crabtastic and imbalanced, only ship balance needed is the removing of mineral costs on guardian ships. gc 1.05 FTW yawn newbs

Well to be honest, I thought of something like this myself a back in `04. I think I still have my file on it on my old Comp, but this is essentially what I thought of...

Name- T.Deviator.
Ship Class- Heavy Carrier.

Weapon: 100,000.
Energy- 5 X 20,000 = 100,000. (20,000 Ryu-Jin providing this Firepower)
Kinetic- 0.
Missile- 0.

Hull- 55,000.
Range- 5. (Effect of the Ship on the Ryu-Jin Fighters: Increase in Range.)
Scanner Rating- 2,500.
Power Rating- 8 X 20,000 = 160,000 + 35,000 = 195,000. (The 35,000 coming from the Actual Ship itself, while the rest of the PR comes from it`s Cargo of Ryu-Jin Fighters.)

Cost Per Unit- 3.5 Million.
Upkeep- 100,000.

Minerals Required:
Terran Metal- 1,000.
Red Crystal- 550.
White Crystal- 550.
Rutile- 300.
Composite- 1,000.
Strafez Organism- 0.

Ship Specials:
No Retaliation- Ships Attacked by this Ship cannot Return Fire.
Deadly Cargo- Ship Carries onboard a Routenue of 20,000 T.Ryu-Jin Fighters which provide all Offensive and Defensive capabilities of the Ship.

Ship Attributes
Defense Modifier
Energy Shield + 50 %
Absorption Shield - 30 %
ECM - 60 %
Ionized Hull + 40 %
