  Great Music - input welcome

Ok guys im trying to re-construct my music playlist for my MP3 player. For the last 6 months i`ve been screwed music wise cause i lost all my music, rebooted my PC and my MP3 had to be wiped before i could upgrade music again. Plus with the reboot/reinstall of windows i lost my original library as well.

So im asking you guys what music would you guys recommend. You can copy and paste some of your favorite songs or whole playlist. So u know i got nearly 18,ooo songs so i got a huge library.

Mostly im into modern music like most people, country, pop, classic 80s music and a few others. Also if anyone knows of a good band for Caribbean or Island type music or like Tokyo Techno music please share.

> Lady Gaga
I`m not laughing with my objection... but she DID take the opening of a great piece of music and ruin it!
I`m talking about the beginning of Alejandro...
I`d much rather keep listening to Csardas ( youtube.com/watch?v=BF9uQI-SRv4 )

Aaand yes Pandora is fantastic for finding new music along your tastes!

I dunno if anyone has mentioned it, but pandora is a great resource for finding new stuff :)

As for what I really like, its a lot of variety...assuming that variety has no country, hiphop or rap in it XD... my favs are:
Nightwish (Finnish symphonic metal band...OMG YES)
Sting/The Police
REM
Lady Gaga (don`t laugh, one of the few ARTISTS in the pop scene - after you get over the getup XD)
Classical music (the good stuff)

I don`t have a massive playlist, but if I see something cool I`ll get it :)

So has anyone heard of The Tallywood String Quartet? They play tributes, with string instruments only, to tons of musicians... full albums of each... I downloaded their discography and it`s great... listening to the A perfect Circle album right now while studying and it hits the mark.

last.fm is a good website to find new artists too.

Free, that`s a decent list you have going there, definitely a lot of variety. Just listened to some Tim Wilson, pretty funny stuff.

Rip, I have not heard of any of those bands before... I just checked out new puritans on youtube, pretty homo videos but some of there stuff is really good, I really like "We Want War," it has a great vibe to it...

Go to a site called pandora.com and put in the name of a couple songs, genre or artists you like. The site will then play that song you like or a song by the artist you like or a song in that genre and then you can thumbs up or down it. If you thumbs down it, it will go to the next one automatically.

I`ve used the site to discover new music that I like.

@ HoneyBucket, aw i forgot A Perfect Cirle... i got some tool now. i`ll check the others tommarow, i need to crash soon.

@ Mazuku, i stopped using iTunes cause it crashed constantly, when it crashed it made copies of WHOLE albums, trust me deleting 13 songs isnt bad, but when u got 18,ooo songs and you end up with an extra 6,ooo its a pain in the butt. I switched over to Winamp cause its an easy/light loading program that doesnt give me tons of copies. Its not really creative for playlist and any auto-playlist under winamp fails cause there isnt a media history in order to sort for good music.

I`ll post what music i got later, tonight would be pointless since i only uploaded a few artist and most of them are my personal easy listening music that i relax to.

@ HoneyBucket - oh have you heard of "Bear McCreary" i recently discovered him and also noticed the background music for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA soundtract was mostly all him as well, it amazed me.

ic... glad to hear you understand how important of back up... :D

in my line of work, i pity to see some of my customers take this for granted and always losing important/precious files due to their ignorance...

as for the music library, i don`t use any playlist... i just play whatever i fancy at the moment i i want... can`t help you on that... lol...

@ VALJA trust me i got backups like crazy and 3 HHDs & 1500 GBs 3 windows XP boot sectors & 1 linux build. I can backup my more commonly used programs easily.

However i lost my music library long time ago and making good playlist is hard with sorting over 18,ooo songs. I keep all my movies & shows on the external hard drive. Music files are on local drive for easy/quick access.

Im just asking people for good artist suggestions or song titles they like.

what i can recommend...

b4 anyone`s trying to reformat the harddisk and reinstall windows, try to recover any of the data using another pc or external harddisk casing... either DiY or ask someone to help you... of course this can`t be done when the harddisk itself already fried...

btw... it`s better to put importan files in another partition or external hdd just to be safe in the future...

it will save a lot of time and important/precious files...

:)
