Chaosmoose 2010-09-05 | | brother playing | | I finally convinced my brother to play as well. is there something I should do to make sure we are not banned for using the same computers and networks? |
|
Ishamael 99+ day(s) ago | It`s not worth running the risk, trust me. |
NiHiLiM 99+ day(s) ago | get a free shell-account somewhere on the net.
and one of you both do some traffic tunnelling.. even better than proxies ;-) |
Chaosmoose 99+ day(s) ago | ok... interesting discussion. I`m pming badwolf now. We have several computers in the house so we could play at the same time. but we`ll be sharing IP addresses. Will ask badwolf about the restrictions on that. |
YATYAS 99+ day(s) ago | Buy a cheap netbook. Problem solved. |
Freelancer 99+ day(s) ago | Well im sure im not helpful.
But depending on your internet connection, you could have multi IP address being used by 1 machine. You just have to know how to set your router, additional with changing your NIC`s MAC address.
But yes like everyone else said. Best to do no interaction at all between you & your brother online with the except of PM`s. And like HoneyBucket Suggested, wait 20 minutes between switching users.
Also if your not sure about my suggestion with your router, then dont touch it, resetting one is hard unless you got the paper work, and instructions to reset it. Cause if you screw up you need that paper work. So Proxy is next best thing, but pretty pointless and also slow. Also alot of Proxy`s have restrictions including gaming sites like GC. If using a proxy best to test for A speed, B test the security of the proxy server.
Lol if you guys let me i might go on and on about little security stuff. Like do you know how easy it is to steal sensitive information from unsecure connections, unsecure browsers, automatic form completes, automatic password.
Also from what i know, alot of people when caught with multi accounts normally claim its A.) friend or B.) brother. Apparently girls arent into GC much. I can only recall 4 girls playing, wait make that 5. |
Seventeen 99+ day(s) ago | you`re right it is the only way to atop multis, it just really sucks for people who genuinly play the game though. surely in a community as small as this though basicly everybody knows everybody on a personal level can`t people vouche for each other? if i was going to multi i wouldnt announce that it was my brother because then people would be watching carefully so saying whats happening should be enough to let them play. rules suck man :P |
HoneyBucket{HH} 99+ day(s) ago | Very true 17... the rules are not practical and it is unfortunate... but without these rules it would be too easy for people to cheat... it is a difficult situation and no easy solution has been found. |
Seventeen 99+ day(s) ago | there is no way that 2 serious players can share the time in 1 house and not be logged in within 20 minutes of each other, that`s just not-smart isn`t it :/ they will be on at the same time and researching and stuff... |
HoneyBucket{HH} 99+ day(s) ago | Chaos, definitely let badwolf know asap. As others have stated, do not be logged in at the same time, make sure to fully log out and allow 20+ minutes before the other logs in. No interaction at all between the two accounts is allowed. I know this sounds rather strict and annoying, but it`s one of the only ways to help prevent multiple account abuse. If caught not following such rules the accounts can be suspended and\or restarted, and if it continues blacklist can occur.
NiHiLiM... shush =P
and to my knowledge, a proxy can help you not get caught, but if fully investigated, most of the time even a proxy is not fool proof. |
NiHiLiM 99+ day(s) ago | nothing that some good proxy`ing can`t fix ;-) |
PistolPete 99+ day(s) ago | Remember that you should not log on you accounts from the same IP at the same time. But if you wait 15-20min untill he has logged off, then it is no problem that you log on. |
Slavyzz 99+ day(s) ago | PM an admin (like BadWolf) and mention it. They can flag you guys as people who share computers. You won`t be able to attack each other, use artifacts on each other, or buy anything from each other. A friend of mine used to play on the same comp as me years back. I was arguing on the forum and he supported me, Belial froze both our accounts instantly. It took some persuading to get my account unfrozen and my friend never returned to the game. dang you Belial! |
Seventeen 99+ day(s) ago | i don`t think you would get busted for any normal mineral transactions just maybe if you suspiciously manage to get 100m of minerals for 500 each and it just happens to be from him. just don`t take the piss and i guess you will be fine :)
im pretty sure you arent allowed to attack each other either
my bro played once and he got banned and i got suspended. we didnt even interact in the slightest just the fact that we both played. i cant remember which douchey admin did it though. |
Chaosmoose 99+ day(s) ago | I can`t put minerals on the market and have him buy them? that`s a little restrictive isn`t it? |
Freelancer 99+ day(s) ago | Ya no trading of any kind.
planets , minerals, ore, food, goods.
In not sure staff will care about ships if 1 of you is viral, but yes trading to give one another an unfair advantage is against the rules. I only managed to get my brother to play for 3 months, but he didnt get the point of the game. |
