CommodoreV 2006-02-26 | | General Stacking Tips | | The golden rule of fighting is that no matter who you are or what you are doing, you will at some point be attacked in this game. So no whining. =P
Generally, you want to have a nice supply of minerals and cash before you start stacking, so stock up before you go out. Also remember to explore as many borders as you want (have at least 3 at all times if possible) Then wait for your turns to fill, this is the most important part. =)
When you have prepped your empire in every way possible, you are ready to begin building your fleet. Choose your ships wisely, each race has a wide variety of ships all which you will eventually learn the stregnths and weaknesses of. The first and usually most important thing to look at is range. Range decides which ships attack first, and when two ships with the same range fight, the defender`s ship attacks first, which means the defender always has the advantage (unless the attacker has your stack`s anti-stack) After you decide on range, check out the ships ratios. During this we will ignore cost and upkeep, although in the real world these could kill you. Lets focus on weapon to pr, hull to pr, range, and most importantly the sheild mods. First, weapon to pr. Generally, missile ships & destroyers have the best weapon to pr ratio and cruisers , starbases, and cyril class ships have the best hull to pr. The guardian ship tourmaline has one of the best weapon and hull to pr ratio in the game, which is countered with horrible range. You really have to be careful though, because sheilds can change the outcome of a battle completely. an example is: P.Thor & Strafez Queen. P.Thor is obviously much stronger then a Strafez Queen on the first three items of battle, but the 4th one make P.Thor barely scratch Queens. With the Queens 99.95% resistance to missiles, the thor`s only weapon, the queens sheilds allow each thor to do only 1.6 damage each time it attacks. While the thor has a )% resistance to chemical damage, the queen destroys the thor |

Don`t forget, terrans: hercs own everything except K. class, V. class, Strafez, and other hercs (and the collective sloop). |
