(Flaming Question)--When collectives assimilate ships after attacking, do they assimilate destroyed ones, remaining ones or both? Also, are there some guild lines on how to start as a collective race? Without missions, i`m totally lost playing as a collective. |

Collective is an interesting beast to play... I say put 10 levels on housing from the getgo so that you can start plundering for some serious cash, which is going to be your first source of income. Getting decent sized planets is so difficult, but once you get a solid base to work from you are set to go for life :D. |

99+ day(s) ago | It`s not that hard to stay alive once you`ve gotten down how to play the race. All the good collectives switched races :P. Don`t hoard useless planets but don`t get stuck n00bie hunting all your life. If you get a decent infra level and a nice c4 you will have a great income. Your ships speak for themselves, some are slow but almost all are deadly. I`ve gotten the most enjoyment out of this race than the other two nonpaids but I`ve been inactive lately. You`ll do great once you get it down. There are no bad collectives, only good collectives, great collectives, and dead collectives. |

99+ day(s) ago | lol, after playing few days as a collective , i start to like it. It`s really is a good race though,challenging and addictive. Hard to keep the empire alive, but its definately more exciting than terran whose job is only building up commercials. |

99+ day(s) ago | H.Class have a 100% chance of capturing, so the ships they kill are captured. Most of the R.Class have a 50% chance of capturing, so about half of the damages they inflict get captured. I like lots of the H ships on the top of my stack, and use R to support them, since I attack for the fun of capturing.
Certain ships don`t get captured, virals mostly, but I think some other collective vessels might be immune. (I`ve stopped attacking Collectives in my slow server out of camaraderie, so I don`t recall.)
Also, if you lose a full stack of foreign vessels but capture new ones in battle, they don`t count, they don`t get successfully captured.
Sometimes, on the offensive, even if you win, you won`t get any ships. Sometimes, on the defensive, even if you lose you get the ships. But normally, you need to win to capture, and you should capture if you win. I notice the most problems capturing when one of my capturing stacks gets wiped out. With this glitchish thing, it`s all-or-nothing... either you get the captured ships or you don`t.
When I capture some nifty vessels I don`t usually run across, I usually send a message to the victim proclaiming my thanks for adding to my museum of obsolete technology. |

Basically the best way to start is by putting you first 10 infra on housing to get something that resembles a per turn income, and then everything else on agri (I put 30 on housing but thats cuz I`m kewl). You have to buy minerals to get your first fleet though which is quite annoying, as is the fact that you get instarestarted if you lose your first battle. Luckily if you bide your time when you are ready to come out you can find someone who is sitting at base to get 3 free borders, and maybe get lucky :). Another strategy you can use is to sit in newbie protection after you get a spaz and gordo the living hell out of a planet to give you a rather nice food income per turn, especially since the market isn`t at 2 anymore :D... Thats what I ended up doing for the entire time i was mostly inactive and doing infra when I felt the urge to. When you have enough infra/income you can come out and start collecting, but if you are picky about your planets then it will take a while to get them... but the ships totally kick behind so its completely worth it :D. Stacking is difficult, but its also totally awesome... SPAMMING IS homo. |

I believe they assimilate the destroyed ones... but i expect that you might be assimilating a little more or less each time since the script might not be that exact lol =p |
