Orglon 2009-11-01 |  | Play balance issues in GC RT |  | I`d like to invite ppl to discuss play balance issues in an attempt to improve the game. One issue I would like to raise is the inability of kho shields to "stack", to become stronger with multiple applications. Granted, if Kho shields were able to "stack" then there should be an artifact designed specifically to reduce Kho shield strength (and then to eliminate the shield). Also, Kho shields should not deactivate positive uses, only negative ones. The game would be more interesting if this added dimension were added to play. As it is now, artifacts are useless in the attack unless one is very lucky, yet most artifacts are negative. As a result ( I may be wrong) artifacts are only used to make minor gordo`s (to enhance the size of planets). While useful that`s pretty much one dimensional play for a concept that was obviously intended for more. If Kho shields were allowed to stack, deadlier artifacts could be used to attack population, ore etc. All one needed to do to avoid a deadly bombardment would be to stack kho shields. As a final note, artifacts used to make kho shields should be stronger than any hypothetical artifact used to take them out. |

Orglon 99+ day(s) ago | My understanding for taking out Kho shields is this: a minor Bar takes ten rares, major bar 25 rares, grand bar 50. I`ll have to verify but I think these numbers are correct. Personally I save rares (to take out a kho shields) that only work on the outside planet. Very few ppl use Kho shields, so I have never had to take one out. The current system has some sneaky, and clever, attacks it can do, but as Gradual has said, most don`t bother. Frankly, the current system is too time consuming (and complex) for the results it gets. A straight forward mace like system, while inelegant, is more balanced, and would add greatly to playability of the game. A final note, if artifacts are made stronger, as I have suggested, anyone in newbie protection should be immune from attack from them. |

Also, kho shields are useful when attacking an UW, or one of their supporters. Hit them with a bunch of historias, then kho shield them, then their fed mates have to use some of their artifacts before they can use STCs to let that person have turns in the near future again. It`s just that most people don`t bother. |
