  Marauder/viral upkeep changes  

To encourage more stacking and yatta yatta, make people stack more/use other ships...Blaah blaah. i present to you plausible changes to ship upkeeps

rant now or forever hold your peace, and remember it could be worse ^^

Since when is D class taken from Marauders??? They are posted as Dark Marauder ships in the manual, but thats just to show they are uncapturable. Just as G lictor is listed as a guardian ship.

i dont really understand why marauders and virals are being nerfed so harshly. First while i was gone D class was taken from virals which is fine. but also from marauders that is excessive. and, why are you now proposing to increase upkeep on already weakened marus... that doesnt make any sense to me.

collective1 should be ignored, as has just been made apparent to me marauders can build much faster than collectives to good effect. Our incomes are fine.

I screwed up on the agri yield for collectives. Explains why the numbers looked so weird. I looked at mineral generation, not agri. This is why I shouldn`t post at 8 am in the morning when I haven`t slept yet and am heading to bed. :P My apologies for my moronic post. ^^;

Collective: 1.5 * 0.35 = 1.275
Marauder: 0.5 * 1.3 = 0.65

So colls make double the food of marauders. Collective upkeep definitely isn`t double that of marauders, but... marauders have superior buildrate, generally superior (overall) ships, and are a paid race whereas collectives are not. So I still stand by the upkeeps. ^^;

Though perhaps it means collectives should see a reduction in income? ;)

Yes but the point is not lost that as we cluster the agri yield on those clusters becomes negative. Just not as negative as deil first said.

Collectives have the little issue of being able to only build clusters one planet at a time, though, whereas marauders can use freshly caught prizes. Makes a big difference. Also, while yes collectives have a +50% on agri yield while marauders have a -50%, c2s have a +20% yield and c3s a +30%, versus a c.3 having -60% and a c.4 having -65%.

So comparing straight up c.4 to c3...
Collective: 1.5 * 0.35 = 0.525
Marauder: 0.5 * 1.3 = 0.65

Meaning that marauders, who DO have cheaper upkeeps than collectives, make more food than them too. And can also use captured land, while collectives cannot. That isn`t even MENTIONING the huge bonus of fertiles.

Now, it should come as no surprise after that why we have absolutely no concern about the ability of the agri marauder to be more than capable of dealing with the increase in upkeep. After all, collectives do and they make more than collectives.
