Ragnarok 2009-06-28 |  | Reflective shield idea |  | Basic concept: If the shield mod is greater than 100%, then a portion of the energy would be reflected back to deal additional damage to the attacker.
So, lets say i have 100 energy directed at a ship with a 125% shield mod against energy. 25 energy would then be "shot back" at the ship for additional damage. If the mod was 300% then 300 energy would be reflected back.
Naturally if you have a shield mod that high, it would have to be balanced out by an extremely low shield mod in another category.
Just thinking outside the box a little. Please don`t just say that this is a bad idea if you don`t like it. Please say WHY you don`t like it.
But I have a sinking feeling that stephen is going to be required, which means it won`t be implemented even if everyone thought it was a great concept. :( |

As for increasing the energy and the law of conservation of energy, why not have it ABSORB the energy instead to divert extra power to weapons. Would be a good starbase shield i think. that way you get the extra damage, just in a different package |

Also, I meant to put 200 energy reflected back (it was a typo)
But anyways, prolly no more than 100% energy damage reflected back if mod is 200% or something. If mod was at 200%, then all of the energy would be reflected back. If it was at 100%, it would simply be absorbed with no damage.
As for the missiles, maybe they`d just bounce off the shield back toward the attacker? o.0 |

Runnerman 99+ day(s) ago | imo a space game just is spacey enough without deflector (reflector) sheilds i like the idea but i belive the games prgramming only reconizes 100% (as seen with a ship called the facepalm... mara knows).
however if you want realism... a 300% sheild ie sending 3x the damage back would break the conservation of energy law |
