  Viral Income Graph

Guys here is a graph of Comm, Agri, and Tax income for VIRALS. (I spent my time on this instead of doing my Federal taxes, wife not happy lol)

Graph of Normalized Income Varying with Food Price
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5497/incomegraphx.jpg

It is normalized to commercial income which is line that goes horizontally across at 1 on the Y axis (hard to see unless make graph big). The x axis is what food sells at/costs 1-20 and the Y axis is the relative income based on the food price. Some interesting observations from the graph are:

At Food Cost of 1 Tax income is 5 times more than Commercial! (See on graph Tax line is up at 5 when food is 1 and commercial straight line across always about equal to 1)

At Food Cost > 17 Tax starts to lose money and Agriculture makes 4 times more than commerical!

Agriculture always makes more than Commercial if Food is above 4.

Tax is better than Agriculture if food is 9 or less

Agriculture is better than Tax if food is 10 or more.

Comm starts to be better than Tax if food is above 14 (but Agri beats commercial here by more than 3 times!)

Stephen balanced these incomes for viral very well as the food price changes so it is hard to pick which income type to be for your empire.

The safe option of commercial income does leave quite a bit of income on the table.

I believe this to be accurate checking with my 2 viral empires but I had to make many assumptions, still it should be within like 10 percent of the real thing I would think. It is independant of research level or land. I did even account for things like when you are tax you eat more food than when agri or comm and when you are comm or agri you have to spend a small percent of land on housing to get labor so not 100% of land is ever used for com and agri. It is normalized to comm income so it won`t tell you what your income will be just what research type is better given a food price. Also goods were left out of calc.

hey
good graph but i think it is withn 20% of error bar taking account of difference in colonies & traits.
it does depend on research lvl if u take into account the best distribution of research lvl.

like 4r tax its pure housing but 4r agri & commerce best distribution differs with total research lvl.

but its really good work & i will like to see one for miners.

Most profitable income is 1:1:2 industry: AG: Housing and distribute labor on land 2:2:1

For example if you have 5 infra levels

2 should be in industry 2 in AG 1 in housing

You will make maximum income and eventually be self sufficient

Larkhamon: I left goods for a few good reasons, first goods do not really make that big of a difference since you buy them at 4 sell them at 5 making only $1 per good, second on RT they are out of stock more than in stock and third it would have been more work lol.

Also, I still haven`t had the time to get the graph updated to account for the negative modifier for agriculture on tainted clusters.

Why leave goods out of the picture? Tax empires have a higher population and therefore can earn more from CGs.

thanks for the research, please post the changes agri makes!

sweet, I like it. :D
I`d be curious to see one for A.Miner... especially Mineral VS Tax

Yoshi: I see now Tainted makes it worse for agri than pop because tainted only reduce the growth rate of pop but it reduce actual output of agri so agri is not quite as good as graph shows. I will plug that in and see how much it changes things.

Yes it is with 5k loyalty for Tax.

You have to say too, that loyalty or not with tax

That only tainted can be used for agri

but its nice:) nice waste of time.

Wow no comments. Either you hate math and didn`t read it or you were smart enough to file away the observations for future? Or I screwed up on the math? Anyone want this for another race? Terran Comm v. Agri maybe?
