  Food prices on Fast

I think it`s been a while since I saw food selling between 2 and 3 on turnbased servers.

Anyway, just bored. I still remember when local monster collective decided to crash food prices to entice more taxers to join fast server. =P

I know what I am refering to :P I am just trying to explain it to the others(I said I know many of you know what I am talking about but GC is played by people 12-60 years old).

What you are refering to DM is market share, and these kinds of tactics are used all the time by business. Walmart is most famous (or infamous) for this by going into an area (esp a relatively small city or town) and dropping prices so low that local businesses eventually shut down. Then they raise them back up again to profitable levels, only with a bigger share of the local market than they otherwise would have had. This is part of why Walmart is successful and why everyone else hates them.

Some people will hate me for telling this secret :P But the virtue in being big agri empire is playing with the market. Being agri is simpler task than being tax for the reason you ALWAYS make SOME money, you might not be rich if food is low, true, but market fluctuates. And the impatient ones usually restart making the patient ones really happy and rich. That way the bigger empires play with the market keeping food low so the smaller agri empires restart, making the big sharks even bigger. That simple principle is working in real life, even thou there are many laws against monopoly.
P.S. Smarter(mostly older) people already know what I just wrote, hope it`s useful for the younger auditory of the game.
P.S.2. If the agri empires on fast stay agri they will profit vastly soon(especially if an UW goes off). There are at the very least 4 new taxers starting(at least I know 4, if we include kurvy let`s say 5, even thou he isn`t new) so give them some time!

Adriatia and rogue being examples for huge colls(I think rogue was on all server richest list with a single c4(being biggest I have ever seen for collective, 60k), and he had enormous infra as well). They were both making a lot.

I wasn`t the only taxer, I was the biggest one. There were a few other big ones thou - jennr, kurvynikas, katzrule for instance. I was eating 2+ mil per turn ragnar, it`s not that hard with 102 housing. Loof had crab infra(as always) and a lot of land, but deil is exaggerating, he wasn`t making way more than you(loof had 35 infra...). But there were many collectives back then as well + knightzz, who was making 1+ mil per turn too. So it was balancing out. But I was by far the most active of all, so when one of the agri empires went in VM for a few days market was totally emptied...

I really doubt it`s just us. There are a number of taxers on the server who could probably eat our food. I have sold almost no food since coming back, not really using many turns at all.

Excuse me i meant DM not loof.

He must have had several high land c3s with a load of research to accomplish that. =P

So, what, loof ate like 3 million food per turn or something with a base pr of 3 million? I find it hard to believe that so many big food producers couldn`t keep up with DM if their production was on par or greater than mine.

DM was the tax viral, loof, myself, and several other big collectives the major food producers. Worry not, rag, your production is a small thing next to what loof used to make.

i think the food market on fast is a bit like chicken

its just seeing who can take the lowest prices before cracking - and i think one of the main food producers will crack way before the prices get any better

who was the tax viral on fast? And were there any major food producers with over 100 planets at the time?

It usually takes one big tax viral to take out the whole market. That has already been tested.

Lol I know quite a few big taxers around plus some starting. If you want to get your food consumed I would highly suggest giving kurvy a paid to explore :P He knows what I mean haha

Two months, eh? You certainly have a habit of exaggeration. But I would love to go back into VM again, I really do not have time to play, but they made me come play.

*hugs whoever is responsible for low food prices

No, he definitely isn`t to blame. It`s the agri terrans that aren`t talking that are to blame. =P

i think we can safely say that not many people are thinking of restarting as an agri empire so all that needs to happen is a few people need to quit or die and the supply will be low - i would love to see an UW though would help sort out a few issues

or perhaps maybe two UW`s

but we cant really blame deil - he has lost 3 of his c4`s and was in forced vm for about 2 months

Of course, at that point, consumption will have gotten to the point that it will send prices soaring back to 15 again. Too bad it`ll still be a couple years before that happens. =P

Yea. The problem is that even when production and consumption finally stabilize, there will be all that food supply left over from speculators buying out at basement bargain prices to contend with too. Every time the price tries to go up a couple notches there will be billions upon billions of food that send the market crashing down again. Short of a UW I`m not sure how we`ll ever get rid of it all. =P
