EvilTatorTot 2008-09-14 | | More GC players? | | It's no wonder why new players don't stay with GC for very long. Every time one of us n00bs posts anything on the forum that is obvious to you veterans, you shred us to pieces with your smart rhetorical answers and can be somewhat facetious. I admit that it is at times very entertaining to see some of you zip a zinger over some of our gullible little heads (but remember it can and possibly will run some of us n00bs into the clutches of that other game)!
Just something to think about while recruiting! |

Biohazard 99+ day(s) ago | DP.... and look what has become of you >_< |
DraconianParadise 99+ day(s) ago | i agree with meta and Aba, for new players my advice would be, to avoid waiting for a long time for forum replies and inevitable flaming , mostly NOT from vets (lol)
Just try PMing some top fighting players in stats or pr in your server, thats how i started out, getting taken under someones wing and showing me the ropes |
Perseus 99+ day(s) ago | ehh when i first started i learnt much from the forums and chats :-O |
thunderonian 99+ day(s) ago | I think I would call myself senior novice from now on, lol. |

Biohazard 99+ day(s) ago | No matter how long we are going to shoot Newbie n00b, UC fan.....
As much as i hate to say it Both EvilTatorTot & EvilAbadayos are right.
If a new player asks a question older players take some knowledge for granted, that isn`t standard.
In order for GC to stay alive we need more players, and that comes by new players. And in order for them to stay we "the older players everyone that is more than 1 month old" should be nicer.
This is the main reason Stephen is not doing crab about GC, and puts 99.9% of this time in UC.
GC is a super game but most of the players here do nothing but !@#$%&*() to other players and admins.
Be nice, play nice and HAVE FUN!!!

metatron 99+ day(s) ago | lol i remember when i started and to be honest the forum and chats always been the same and unlikely to change but their are players and guilds out their that are more than happy to help new players. when i started i just pmd couple of players that looked like they new what they were doing and one of them took me under their wing and i learned the basics from them. but most o line game have the same sort of gibbing for new players but you just dont take it onboard and fine someone that will help you and then just keep asking them stuff |
Narca 99+ day(s) ago | hmmm im still a newbie who can stack just a little but i agree that we should help the new guys learn how 2 play the game and at the same time let them fight a few battles themselves all i basicly see are spammers and thats just lazy but anyways ive been playing this for a few months and uc for nearly 2 years and i learn new things on uc but i pass on my knowledge from there to the newbies and after i learn 2 do it well and right on here ill share my knowledge i have learned and been taught to the next generation of newbies and when i use generations i mean every week or so) |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | i have helped out over 50 players in this game from the ground up, i dont consider myself a vet nor a pro at the game, just lucky.
Training new players is the key to keeping the game alive now that Stephen has ignored us for several years apart from a single event and some minor updates here and there.
The community at large is at least partly responsible for the current state of affairs regarding player retention. I have been working with others to try to improve player retention and hopeing that the thing we are working on get implimented soon, though there is 1 minor snag but that will hopefully be over come soon enough to make it worth while.
My advice to new players is to battle as much as you can and learn from your losses and wins. Don`t get disheartened if you get beated, take it as a lesson in battles and learn how you went wrong. There are many other guides around regarding helping out new players. The Manual help guides are woefully out of date however but best to just ask here or the help center and people will help out those that need it.
Granted ther ewill be some pains in the bum that do smart allic remarks, but they are mainly doing that to cover up for their own insecurities, or in Rarehunters case, keeping up a long tradition :D Don`t take anything to heart and if you need help just ask on of the game guides and they should be able to assist you in your requests.
See...im not always a pain, i do help :P |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | Wait what? Why would you close this thread...? There`s no shortage of space... if people don`t like your thread or something it will go away on its own...
Also starseeker I think you can shaddup. |
OnDante 99+ day(s) ago | I agree, ETT/Spuds. You`ve got to have thick skin to last in most online games, but this game is not very user-friendly, or even friendly at times. Join a fed is my best advice, someone who is willing to help you learn some of the basics to intermediate stuff. Lots of feds have their own internal guides they will share with new members. Good luck though- I hope you stick with it. There are a lot of great people on this game who are reason enough to keep playing. |
Spuds 99+ day(s) ago | Doh, my Bad I will close this thread in the morning! shalashashka look for Exules game guide. If you do not find it Send a PM to me and I will give you the link. |
shalashashka 99+ day(s) ago | aw do u use the orbs u dig up? |
Poky82 99+ day(s) ago | Hey Aba; just because someone is called a Vet does not mean that they have the experience to be considered a pro! Even Vets learn something new almost every day. So by all means use the word Vet to express longevity but use Pro to state experience.
just a thought from an X Tater from Pocatello (Poky) ID. |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | i agree with TatorTot.
We need more players to hang around so experianced players (im refraining from using the word Vets cos alot of old players are still knida shoddy at the game, even if they cionsider themselves vets). should stop being pains in the perverbial and actually put their knowlage and experiance to use and help the community at large.
Hey you may even be training your next border meal in the process so it IS worth the effort. |
Spuds 99+ day(s) ago | starseeker; What I said as EvilTatorTot might be considered sophomoric, to say that it was whining may be a little moronic and I am sry for stealing your catchphrase Rare! |
starseeker 99+ day(s) ago | Join a fed. Most fed leaders (that will let in a n00b) and fed members are very helpful to the new guys. Kudos on figuring out how to use the forum. Now try to learn not to whine here. |
