blackice 2008-08-30 | | mineral question | | hey everyone, i was just wondering if clusters produce more minerals per turn in comparison to single planets. maybe its just me, but it seems like clusters do indeed generate more - but im not sure because im a newbie. haha =] thank you in advance. |

archaeoptyrex 99+ day(s) ago | Answer 1: Mineral generation is independent of the amount of ore on the planet. Ore is extracted only by building "mining infrastructure" on land.
The rate of mineral generation depends on the #of planets in your cluster, the type of cluster, your race mod, and your "mining research"
don`t get the phrase "research infra" mixed up with how much land you build (bad terminology we know :D)
Answer 2: There is a "black market " implemented.
This allows goodies such as ore (or minerals, etc) to be available at an inflated price. (The ore at 15k isn`t generated by any human player).
This ensures that stuff is available if you *really* need it.
Lastly, you can only post stuff on the market in a price range around the current price.
<-- well I used to be a guide too :P
I *might* be correct |
HouseAtreides 99+ day(s) ago | I have the same question Shmma does. And I have another question: why does the ore market sometimes suddenly go to 15000, when the price limit says 10000? And, when someone has posted all their ore at 15K, I cant even post any, at 10K or 15K. Help, please. |
ShammaLammaDingDong 99+ day(s) ago | So, here`s a follow up newbie question for anyone: DO planets and clusters generate minerals then, after all of the ore has been mined ff of them? I.e. if I leave mining infrastructure up on a planet that now shows 0 ore, does that mining infrastructure do anything for me? |
Amaranth 99+ day(s) ago | clusters do, in fact give you more minerals/turn than 5 separate planets, there is a formula somewhere i actually did all the math out once. 1 c2 gives more minerals/turn than 5 c1s and a c3 gives more minerals/turn than 5 c2s. Assimilated (collective) planets/clusters and infected (Viral) planets/clusters ALWAYS yield 0 minerals/turn. |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | not always.
Look at C1 mods and Rocky planet mods ;) |
FieryGallacticos 99+ day(s) ago | yeah. ore extraction rate is higher in clusters :) |
ArchAng3l 99+ day(s) ago | srry.. my bad.. yup ore extraction is affected when you form cluster too :P |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | I think they are talking about mineral extraction, which I understood to occur at a fixed rate which will not be in any way affected by the presence of mining buildings. I hadn`t heard that some planets were better for mins than others though... |
ArchAng3l 99+ day(s) ago | i don think the clusters affects ore extraction.. only the no. of infrastructure you build on the mining on the colony affect the speed of extraction... |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | wut? there are mineral mods for planets...? |
blackice 99+ day(s) ago | ohh okay. thank you so much. =D
so the mining mods on planets not only affects ore extraction but mineral generation as well? |
FieryGallacticos 99+ day(s) ago | yes clusters produce more minerals a turn ^^ |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | when you cluster planets, the old planets mineral modifications are not used (neither are any of the other planetary mods of the non clustered class upon clustering).
Once they are clustered they take the planetary mods of the Cluster level (level 1-3 for terran/marauder/guard/a. miners, 1-4 for Viral and collective).
So in other words if you cluster 5 Rocky class planets to make a C1, and 5 gas planets to make another C1, they both will have the same mineral generation even though the 5 rocky C1 would of been making more as 5 seperate planets than the 5 seperate Gas`s due to their planet mods before clustering.
Hope that made sence and if not just say what doesnt and I will try to help out further |
