I dont know if there are any web based IRC channels people use that are already established, but i found this site mibbit.com and thought it was a good site to use. I registered a room for spacefed and there`s a widget that lets you embed the IRC channel in your website if Stephen decides to utilize this resource.

and here`s a special room i greated just for spacefed. Don`t worry if you don`t have a password or username. This is only if you registered a username on the site in order to protect it. Just click login with no password and you`re in.
