I believe Uberpansy is referring to the United Terran Union on the Normal Server. XD

TheProven, that`s not a GC problem, that`s a problem with real time server :p

Head on over to a slower server like Normal server... ;)
That`s where the party`s at mate :P

that is correct. no big turn storage.

that`s a good thing though. it makes historias and time capsules much more tactically important. on UC, I just see people using historias to wave their ego around and VM people.

Yep.thanx guys,it seems that the stakes are much higher wen fighting.the only thing that makes me sad is the fact that theres only a max of 30 turns,45 if paid rite=(

hope you enjoy proven... I think youll find that the stakes of battle can also be far higher here.... there no UC equivilant of winning a plump Cluster level 2 or snagging a couple 10,000 land U. Larges. even if you are just going to plunder them... ;)

the only disadvantage of not being in a fed as far as battle are concerned is that you will only be able ta atack from 130% (150% if attempting to enslave) of your oponents pr

if you are in a fed you may attack from 200% of your oponents pr if your fed is at war with their fed

People in a federation will have no direct battle advantage over you TheProven.
In fact, you will have the advantage as no fed can declare war on a single individual ;)

Lmao.i shouldv joind gc ages ago.uc has become a sumwhat "battle of op",and who knows hw to own op,as a sui,all that i had to worry about was the oponents op.gc is much more stack based fighting.intresting=)
btw,so i dnt hav 2 hav a fed?can i go solo?i mean,wil people from a fed hav any advantage over me(in a battle),wen either of us is attacking

if you were happy to hear about no OP, then I`m sure you`ll be interested in knowing that max stack limit for battle here is 10, not 6 :O

A fed is a symbol, once you join a fed you will be associated with the specific group of players that you have chosen to join up with. The only ingame change you may notice is that it will now say that your empire is a member of such and such federation, and you can now access the Discussion page and Fed Website tabs of the Federation tab. The Discussion page is woefully inadequate and outdated but it can be of some value for sharing little tidbits with others, particularily enemy stack information. Though the changes you may notice at first when joining a fed may seem superficial and unimportant, you may find that your new federation is full of friendly talkative people who may take you under their wing and teach you to play and be all around good teammates. So, it basically is a way of choosing a crowd to hang with - so choose wisely :P

I suppose the only minorly impactful change that being in a fed brings is the ability to engage in fed war. Fed war is a rather archaic system that basically allows one fed to "declare war" on another fed. In ingame battle terms this means that you can attack the members of the opposting fed from double power (a 1.99x advantage).

actually, it wouldn`t be your money if you have negative income and produce food or CGs ^_^

Make sure to catch up on ship differences too. The dynamics of the ship list are extremely different than you are used to.

Welcome to GC. Hopefully you find it to be a fun challenge. This link can start you off with a lot of useful information:
http://gc.gamestotal.com/hef.cfm?f=hef_detail&hi=6223&ch=101

Major differences that you will notice are that there are no lords, OP, transports, big turn storage, systems, ministers, fast build, etc. The list goes on and on. I think you`ll find that GC is a bit more challenging in that it requires a great deal of independence both in and out of battle.
Another thing that should be pointed out is that, while there are no lords/vassals on GC, there are in fact slaves and masters. This is not to be confused with lords/vassals though! Enslavement means that while you are enslaved, a sizable portion of your income goes toward your slave master`s tribute box. Do not let people fool you by saying they can give you money as your master! The money that they can send is your own money that they took in slave tribute to begin with! If you do get enslaved (and this happens a lot with newer players) do not get angry or frustrated. Keep your cool and either try to break free or ask nicely to be let go. Believe it or not, some masters will let their slaves go if they ask nicely. If they don`t, stay chill. You can still break free by climbing to 10x their pr and declaring independence from the slave empires menu.

Another common issue with new players that you can find covered in my game guide is money. Starting out can be financially challenging on GC and many go into debt. A nice way to earn some quick cash is to mine and sell ore. This will get you started off nicely, but don`t rely on it as your main income forever. If you do end up going into debt, sell minerals, food, ore, raw material, etc that you don`t need. Disbanding any ships and not using turns are also good ideas for when you`re in debt.

It`s been too long since I played UC, so I can`t really answer your question very well, but I will at least welcome you to GC. We`re glad to have you. Hopefully someone will post up a good answer for you soon.
