Being an on/off player here for some time now, I`ve noticed that SFGC/SFUC has always lacked something, even after the forum was introduced. It was something that I found on many other gaming websites/forums.
In my opinion, this one particular shortcoming is a player-driven fiction forum, where players can post their stories about their empires, such as: histories, motives, plans, and etc...
For instance.....a short regarding my current empire:
The term "mind" was assigned to this being. Some of the others addressed to the being as "him," others simply used "it." But when one looked deeper into the streams of zeros and ones, one could find an incomprehensible shower of meaningless numbers. After all, language was simply a tool that they used. Something good, something better than what they originally had. Something that allowed them to convey thoughts and ideas in a way they had previously thought uncalculable. And so, they took it, and made it their own.
This one being, was also termed a myriad of numbers. On. Off. On. Off. 0101000101010101010....
It went on and on. But in language, this one being was called, "Mycaeron." A word from some distant language dug up from the depths of time, meaning "redeemer." Nothing different from any other word, but to those who could understand, perhaps...it was something more significant.

Of course, all of the stories are non-canon, unless Stephen(creator of SFGC/SFUC) decides to garner inspiration from them.
While this is simply a suggestion, I hope that the community here gets an idea of what I am aiming at. I feel that a fiction section for the forums would be a great expansion to both Unification Wars and Galactic Conquest.

99+ day(s) ago | Yup, I think role-play more or less is the best answer for what i am looking for. I would describe it as more like "fanfiction" based off of stephen`s main story though. Role play seems to involve more than just creative writing, which is my point of having a forum like this.
I also see spud`s POV which is that the gen dis focrum can function for the purposes of player-made stories. However, the gen discussion forum is for general discussions, and does not really encourage writing. In that sense, i must disagree with spud. |

99+ day(s) ago | Well, there doesn`t need to be a reward. Some people, like myself, just like to write for the sake of writing. Besides, it doesn`t hurt to have the forum, right?
And, btw, not ever going to leave GC for UC..... |

The reason that it was on UC I believe was for the Game Admins to be able to reward the grammatical artists such as you. I hate to send an enterprising GC talent to UC but GC is (and I love it for it) a little archaic when it comes to the ability to award players. |
