Day 1
The technology found by our viator pilot is amazing, I'm not sure but I think the organic components are actually still completely unharmed. After floating in space for any length of time these organic components which are not much sturdier than our own `components` are starting to function again without support from the artificial systems. Good thing too, as the power cell we found was nearly empty. It seems that now the organic systems are actually starting to tend to the artificial, if we can harness this Terran medical science will be the envy of the galaxy. We could, perhaps, have life spans that rival the Guardians.
Day 2
Attempts to feed the organic components via an IV have failed; it's entirely possible that what we are giving them is poison. A Civi from the fleet came in last night. She seems to know quite a bit about cybernetics but he wont let on how much or where from. Secret Military projects no doubt and I'm sure they can see the value in this tech; This specimen in, its prime, was probably a beast!
Anyway she is convinced that the actual intelligence of the unit is long dead, there does not appear to be enough organic `gray matter` to carry an intelligence and no known electronic storage device can be found. Given this it seems worth the risk to manually power the cybernetic components... Maria, the Civi, got all kinds of annoyed with me for using the term `artificial systems`. |

FireStormZ 99+ day(s) ago | Day 3
With the cell powered were starting to see some of the cybernetic systems power up, the first system started to release chemicals that seem to feed the organic tissue also we think we found the CPU and Storage areas which, for the time being seem inert. The memory storage seems immense, it actually seems to use artificially generated DNA to store memory, and like all the organic components the DNA seems to be intact, perhaps the alien will fully revive. Finally one system on one of its appendages started to produce some enzymes and more of the memory DNA, at this point we are figuring it's just a backup storage unit or a data transfer port.
Day 4
It woke up, we are actually speaking to an intelligence which, according to it, is at least several hundred years old. It seems cordial enough; of course I would be cordial in containment as well. Something feels very cold about it but Maria is excited as it has offered to share some of its knowledge and technology. I would be more excited were it not for the danger I think this thing poses. I'm going to ask fleet to send me a different specialist as maria is too trusting; I really hope Maria does not become too upset. |
FireStormZ 99+ day(s) ago | Day 5
Maria has named it `Tartarus`, something about the Greek Titans imprisonment being similar to its imprisonment in space. I believe she is spending far too much time with it and is losing all sense of objectivity. She is treating it more like a pet than an incredibly powerful alien. Personally I don't think he is nearly as weak as he claims to be. His vitals are strong and given the nature of the alloys from which his cybernetics are composed I doubt containment alone could hold him... Thankfully we have the guards with her all times. I told Maria about my request to fleet, I felt she as a professional deserved it. It did not go well she is filing he own objection and is refusing to reason with me.
Day 6
That not-smart girl, last night she went to Tartarus, alone, and asked for help in maintaining her position. When the two guards became aware they entered the room only to find him sticking something into her abdomen when attempting to restrain him one of the guards also got stuck, the other smartly gassed the room and emptied two clips into Tartarus. Maria and the Guard are both themselves in restrained isolation while we figure out exactly what is going on. Tartarus is, of course, regenerating in isolation while we figure out what to do with him, were it up to me I would incinerate him. |
FireStormZ 99+ day(s) ago | Day 7
Scans show Maria starting to form some cybernetic components, at first her body produced components via organic processes but now it seems they are self replicating consuming much of her natural body, the guard is showing a similar pattern of growth. Maria seems mentally fine, she has told us that the process was at her request and was only meant to transfer the memories of Tartarus to her to facilitate the transfer of technology. I trust her less now than I did before. The guard seems unable to speak without pain, he is heavily sedated.
Day 8
Fleet is here to take Maria, The Guard, and Tartarus to a more secure facility. Well that's what they tell me, personally I think they actually buy the load of garbage Maria is selling them and plan to accelerate the weaponization of this technology. I've tried to convince them that all three need to be put down but I am being told that the risk of losing the technology is too high. |
FireStormZ 99+ day(s) ago | Day 8 A: Lockdown
It happened on the way out, It was foolish of me to keep such a close eye on Maria and Tartarus and ignore the injured guard. It was all an act our sedatives never worked on him, as far as I can tell it is not even him anymore. He seems to be a puppet of Tartarus which leads me to thank that Maria is as well. On the way out of the facility the guard sprung out of his gurney and stuck the two medics with him, when the two guards turned around Maria stuck them and Tartarus stuck the Captain. I was able to seal them in by hacking the system to believe that a biological agent was lose, how long I can hold the 6 of them I don't know. I myself am stuck in a room with no external communication so to the outside world this looks like a plague, I know the protocol to be run and fear I have only stalled the inevitable.
Day 8 B:
As I feared hazmat teams came racing in about 45 minutes into the lockdown, by then Tartarus had attacked everyone else in the lab and had a total of about 2 dozen at his command. I don't know quite how much the victims still exist, if anything at all. They made quick work of the hazmat teams and used their keys to send a few of their number into the world. Tartarus and the rest heading back towards my lockdown room. This will be my last entry as I will not be made one of them. I have resolved to end my own life as a proud Terran and not some cybernetic freak. Tell my family that I love them. |
