Exule 2008-07-08 | | Plans Within Plans | | Office of Senior Council Member David Landers, Planet Terra:
Terran Council member David was standing in his office listening to Admiral Morgan's report.
"Good work Morgan, your victory has taken us one step closer to eliminating this Viral threat. I am curious though, you said that a team of space marines found a survivor on board the Marauder ship, yes?"
"That is correct, a Terran female. Which reminds me, the squad leader said that there was something unusual about her, but he did not go into further detail during his transmission."
"Thank you admiral. I must go now to attend some pressing matters, but I have something to ask of you before I leave you."
"Sure, what is it?"
"There is a planet in System LN23 called Exule. I would like you to take it back from the Virals. On this planet there is an ancient Kal Zul temple that holds the secret to finding an important artifact."
"David, surely you are joking. The Kal Zul artifacts are not real. They are simply part of children's stories."
"They are real, trust me. Now will you do this for me?"
"Alright, I'll take back Exule and find this temple you speak of. When I find it I'll let you know."
"Thank you, good luck." |

Exule 99+ day(s) ago | David ended the transmission and walked over to his office window. He peered out at the Terran skyline, which was filled with the forms of towering buildings. These structures embodied the ambition of the Terran race. Their tops reached toward the sky in an attempt to touch the heavens. The setting sun reflected off the many mirror-like windows on the sides of the buildings, giving their surface an orange tint. After a moment of contemplation, David returned his mind to his surroundings. He pressed a button on his desk and the windows became opaque, indistinguishable from the walls of the room. David strode across the room and closed his office doors. He locked them from the inside and returned to his desk to sit down in his chair. David's consciousness withdrew from the rest of the world and in his mind he reached out.
"Victor."
Half an hour after the transmission:
"Admiral Morgan, the space marines have returned from their mission. They are requesting permission to dock."
"Tell them that they may land."
"Yes sir."
The crewman then spoke into his headset.
"Permission granted. You have clearance to land in hangar bay 4B."
Admiral Morgan flipped a switch on the hand panel of his command chair to access his comm-line. He gave an order to the officer in charge of the personnel in hangar bay 4B.
"Sergeant Dawes, please show the young lady to one of the guest chambers when she arrives."
After appointing one of his officers to look after things on the bridge, Morgan made his way to guest chambers. |
Exule 99+ day(s) ago | Usually reserved for ambassadors and politicians during peacetime, during war the guest chambers were used by a much larger variety of civilian personnel. Kira was sitting on a comfortably designed couch on the far end of the room when the admiral entered the room. He told his security detail to wait outside and closed the door. Morgan crossed the chamber room and took a seat across from the girl. He studied her for a moment, trying to understand what the squad leader meant when he described her as "unusual." Then he noticed her eyes. She had beautiful green eyes. That wasn't what caught him off guard though. It was the fact that her green in green eyes were so bright that they almost appeared to glow.
Morgan was the first one to speak. |
Exule 99+ day(s) ago | "What's your name?"
The girl remained silent. Morgan was not about to give up though.
"Surely you have a name. What is it?"
"Kira."
"Where are you from Kira? How is it that you came to be in the hands of the Marauders?"
"I'm from a colony on Telsia. I was with my mother and brother when the aliens attacked. My mother told us to run and we did."
At this point Kira's eyes began to grow wet with the formation of tears. She had to stop for a few seconds.
"It's ok, take your time. I know you've been through a lot. Here, wipe your eyes with this," said Morgan as he took his handkerchief out and handed it to the girl.
"Thanks," she said as she wiped away her tears and returned the handkerchief. She then continued with her story.
"That was the last time I saw my mom. My brother and I were running when suddenly he fell down. I stopped to go help him up. When I got to him he was dead. They had shot my little brother in the back!"
Kira's tears returned again, but this time she would need more than a handkerchief to wipe them away. Morgan didn't know what to say. All he could do was wait for her sobbing to subside. After a minute or two had passed, Kira regained her composure enough to resume her story. Upon the admiral's suggestion she took a deep breath and steadied herself. She proceeded to tell the rest of the story.
"As I was crying over my brother's body one of the aliens approached me and seized me by the throat with his scaly hands. I thought I was done for."
"How are you still alive?" |
Exule 99+ day(s) ago | "I don't know. His grip was tightening and I was looking him in the eyes, thinking that those yellow abominations were the last thing I would ever see. As I looked into his eyes, his grip began to loosen and he dropped me to the ground. I was too afraid to wonder why he would let me go. I simply ran as far as I could and hid in a construction site."
"That is all very interesting," said the admiral. "Is that where the Marauders found you?"
"Yes. They discovered me and took me to their leader for questioning. I answered one of his questions and then after that I can't remember anything else leading up to my rescue."
"Well, Kira. Thank you for your cooperation. You've had a rough past few days, so I'm going to leave now and let you rest. Do get some sleep."
"Wait! Before you go you need to tell me your name. It would be unfair for me to give my name and not receive yours in return."
"I am Admiral Morgan, but you can just call me Morgan," he said with a smile. Now rest. I can tell you're exhausted. If you need anything, just let the guards know and you'll be accommodated."
Morgan left the room and the door closed with a quick hiss.
"Victor."
`"Yes my master, what would you have of me?"
"Victor, there has been an unexpected occurrence. You will be proceeding to the Guardian home world of Solaria Secundis as planned. However, there is another threat to our plans that needs to be taken care of."
"Oh?"
"A girl. I need you to send someone to take care of her."
"But Master, surely a mere girl cannot do much to deter my vast host of warriors and my many battle fleets."
"Do not question me, Victor. This girl is a grave threat and needs to be dealt with immediately. My sources inform me that she is aboard a Terran juggernaut called the Dark Spark in System LN23. Deal with her."
"As you command, master. I shall send my best agents to eliminate this. threat." |
