Exule 2008-07-02 | | The Rally Call | | "What do you mean, `you can't spare any ships'?! Don't you realize the seriousness of this situation?!"
The sound of Morgan shouting into his communication panel could be heard all the way down the hall from his office.
"Calm down Morgan. I'm trying my best to convince the rest of the Terran Council to authorize the deployment of a battle group, but you know how things are. Chances are that even if you get authorization, it won't be for months."
"I can't wait that long. By that time hundreds of worlds may fall to this new alien race. We have to uproot this threat before it begins to grow and bloom into a dire crisis."
"What do you plan to do then admiral?"
"I'm going to have to organize a band of volunteers and attempt to take matters into my own hands. Can I rely on you to assist me, David?"
"You ask a great deal of me, old friend. I've known you too long to turn you down though. Yes, I'll help you, but if anyone finds out about my part in this, I will surely lose my seat on the Council."
"Thank you, I'm sorry to have to ask you to get involved in this. I realize you're putting a lot on the line for me."
"No problem, I could have turned you down if I was that concerned about the risk. Enough of this talk though, we need to get working on putting a fleet together. I'll send you the authorization codes for the shipyards. I'll also pull a few strings where needed. I trust that you can handle the rest?"
"Yes, I'll take care of everything else."
"Alright, I've sent you the codes, good luck Morgan."
"Thanks, I'll need it." |

Exule 99+ day(s) ago | Admiral Morgan spent the rest of the day organizing volunteers and calling up old favors. The following day was rather uneventful until the arrival of night. With most of the orbital shipyard's personnel gone, there were few people remaining to stop Morgan from taking the ships that were docked at the shipyard. In fact, Council member David had made sure that only the right people would be working shifts at the shipyard that night.
Morgan and his followers infiltrated the facility and proceeded to hijack the ships as planned. Upon reaching the area marked for capital ship use, Morgan stopped in his tracks and gazed with awe upon the massive ships that lie dormant before him. Waiting in the docking bay were two enormous Hercules juggernauts. Across from the mighty juggernauts loomed the forms of various other capital ships. Among these capital ships, Morgan could distinguish several large vessels. The group of vessels contained a mix of both Tyr and Nirvana class dreadnaughts. Next to the row of dreadnaughts sat at least twelve or so Empereur battleships.
"This is quite the find," Morgan said, addressing his group of commanders that he had hand picked from among the rest of his following.
Turning to his most trusted lieutenant, Mike Durgan, he said, "I'll take command of one of the juggernauts, and I want you to command the other one. I'll leave you the task of assigning commanders for the remaining capital ships."
"Thank you sir, I shall get right on it." |
Exule 99+ day(s) ago | When all the ships had been seized and crews had been assigned, the only thing that remained to do was set out. Morgan began giving orders for the fleet to disembark.
As soon as the warships were clear of the shipyard, Morgan got his fleet into the necessary battle formations. It was a grand sight to see. The admiral's force consisted of the aforementioned capital ships in addition to vast numbers of cruisers, destroyers, frigates, corvettes, and fighters of varying type and class. At the very front of the armada were the two Hercules juggernauts commanded by Lieutenant Durgan and Admiral Morgan himself.
Having assembled all his forces, Admiral Morgan ordered the fleet to make the first jump in the series of jumps that would deliver them to System LN23.
Meanwhile, between the times of his initial victory over the Terran task force and Morgan's procurement of a new fleet, Victor had been keeping himself busy by tracking down the Marauders' main fleet. The task of which was no easy undertaking considering the nomadic nature of most Marauders. Little did he know that Admiral Morgan was planning to return with a new fleet in a bid to rid the universe of the Viral scourge. |
