how to block sites on fire fox

I am trying to block the annoying counter links when I load a page on GC. I used to be able to but cannot remember how i did it.

I want to do it because it speeds up load time and I dont want my page loads to count for some annoying off site thingy I didn`t agree to.

This is one of the things I want to block:

http://w0.extreme-dm.com/ (followed by a load of gibberish and encoded junk)

Any assistance?

you could just stick the url in the hosts file with a non existant ip since a lookup is done against that before a DNS request is sent...

Not sure exactly but ya picking out what cookies to accept & deny is a good one to do. Ad blocking programs work great as well they flirter out keywords most ads links use
