DrunkenMasters 99+ day(s) ago | yeah the random stack is the 3rd stack in this case |
Perseus 99+ day(s) ago | swords attack and get wiped on 2nd wave, then lyth attacks your 3rd stack..... maybe o.o |
bobbysindustrialpat 99+ day(s) ago | Yeah bip that`s kinda the point I was making. In the sim the lictor (third stack) don`t get hit because a one ship spam can only ever take out 2 stacks plus 50% return fire on a couple of stacks.
In the game you can lose your top 3/4 stacks from a spam and that just gives too much firepower to a spam imo...... |
bipbippy 99+ day(s) ago | Yeah that`s why I was pointing out which Sim I used, and that the results were slightly different. |
Maraudian 99+ day(s) ago | GY`s sim isnt exact to the GC formula , its about 90% accurate to GC battles , its close enough to be usefull like but dont let it mislead you. |
bipbippy 99+ day(s) ago | Yeah DM - I was agreeing with you. I was just pointing out the sim gave something different because of the randomness. Although I did run it multiple times in the sim and it always gave me the same result.
Bobby - If the attacker had attacked on normal, they would have lost. The only way the attacker could have won was attacking on careful. At least according to the sim.
I used GreenYedi`s sim, in case it matters... |
bobbysindustrialpat 99+ day(s) ago | I think this thread is going backwards!!
If you run it in the sim, do it on normal because the attacker lost LOTS of lyth. There`s nothing random in this battle it`s completely deterministic because there`s only one stack left after the first wave. The chlor stats haven`t been updated in the sim so they die and kill more than in the game.
The sim doesn`t capture the `extra` attack the lyth get on the lictor because it destroys the lyth in the first wave and the stacks shuffle up so it attacks the sword. In game, the sword wipe themselves out with return fire from the lyth so the lyth become unpaired again. This may not be an intended feature of the game, but I think it might be something to add to the changes list to discourage spammers.
DM - I know about the extra stacks getting a random attack when they`re not paired up - and the battle sim captures this. I don`t think that happens in this case - the spam always seems to take out the top stacks, but I could be wrong. Maybe lod will shed some light since he`s seen this more than me? |
FOUNDERS 99+ day(s) ago | yup DM is right, it is random and is why you can get different results from the battle sim using the exact same stacks. |
DrunkenMasters 99+ day(s) ago | You have to simulate it more than once. A random pairing is really random... |
bipbippy 99+ day(s) ago | I ran this through GreenYedi`s battlesim. It doesn`t have the G.Livids from the missions, so I put in the regular ones. The final results were a little different as far as ships go, but the overall result was the same - loss of 1 colony when attacked on Careful. |
Maraudian 99+ day(s) ago | sigh i give up -_- , try listening when people like dm have the patience of giving you the exact reason in an easy to understand way :-) |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | maybe the code sux heh |
Sol 99+ day(s) ago | Its normal. no bug. |
bipbippy 99+ day(s) ago | *bip agrees with DM, an unpaired ship attacks a random stack. That`s why sometimes your outcome might be a little different than a battle sim`s outcome. |
DrunkenMasters 99+ day(s) ago | Bobby, it`s the way I tell you, believe me, this topic has been discussed many times already and I was in the blue at the beginning as well. When a ship remains unpaired it attacks a random stack after the end of the round. |
Maraudian 99+ day(s) ago | there pointing out m chlor loss`s |
Maraudian 99+ day(s) ago | i repeat , its in the battle formula , meaning its in the code. |
CrazyMaverickTNM 99+ day(s) ago | Boby its not an error...
XXXX is spamming ur even stacked fleet
i only see 30% damage which means u only lose one planet... if he got 50% damage u would of lost 2
1 ships spams arent that great vs 10 stacks ships |
Bobbysindustrialpat 99+ day(s) ago | DM - I don`t think it`s random. They hit the top available stack everytime. The swords just exclude themselves from the battle first :P
Maraudian - just because it happens everytime, doesn`t mean it was intentionally coded that way.
Either way it might be a good thing to add to the list of changes, since it`s quite a simple way to make spams less effective, no? |
DrunkenMasters 99+ day(s) ago | The lyths attack random stack after all paired ships have done attacking each other. |
