It's that time again GC Guide applications are now open.
NOTICE
The closing date will be 2 weeks from this posting
Any prospective applicants should read the below information then skip to the end of this post to find the questions needed. Anyone that doesn't follow the instructions and post where it should be posted, and how it will tell you, will be disqualified from this entire application set guides are no good to us if they can't follow simple instructions.
Remember Potential Guides should:
- Be familiar with the help centre system and active on both it and the chat
- Be Relatively abuse free and have stayed so for a time
- Usually be at least 3 months old in game (though exceptions are made)
- Experience or a good working knowledge of most playable races
- The ability to conduct yourself to a higher standard than that expected of regular players
- At least 1 hours game time a day to devote to helping (2-3 hours online time a day at least)
- Good Problem solving skills and common sense
A reminder:
There are no monetary or in-game rewards for being a guide and once a guide you are expected to continue to work and help after you've got your (G) those that don't will be removed from the list.
Moderation IS NOT a part of a guides duties, anyone signing up just to moderate should not bother to apply and save us the trouble , A guide simply gives you a hyperlink to your PM Box, gives you access to more questions in help center and a tag so players can identify you in the chat.
IT is important that you read Part 2 & 3 before applying

99+ day(s) ago | The fact that you mentioned that you`re from UC in a GC guide application thread shows that you don`t know enough about GC to be a guide here. ^^;
As for conducting to a higher standard... dunno about the rest, but it`s not like I get any benefit whatsoever out of being a guide. All the (G) does is gives the new players that you answer the questions for comfort that your answers are undoubtedly correct... gives them peace of mind. That is what a guide does... answers questions. A lot of players in the game answer them anyway, but a player assumes that a guide knows what they are talking about and will trust them. So the (G) is supposed to safeguard against malicious players giving incorrect information so that the newb knows who to listen to.
It means little more than that. Conduct to a higher standard? I, at least, am not a moderator. I`m a guide... my role is to answer questions. Nothing in that role implies that I should be politically correct. Hell, nothing in the role of a moderator or an admin says they should be politically correct. About the only thing a volunteer staff member SHOULD do is not break the rules. Sends a pretty bad message when staff members blatantly disregard the rules. *shrugs* We`re all human though, and we all get frustrated, so you will undoubtedly see us cursing on the chat and breaking rules like that in a moment of emotion. It`s not like we get paid and have any real pressing reason to supersede the emotion threatening to engulf us. |
