CounterCrazy 99+ day(s) ago | I wish this game had a better forum tho.... would be nice if the 3 of us could have our private forum to chat & whatever on... plus spread & share ideas & knownledge... |
CounterCrazy 99+ day(s) ago | Anfit i like u... your a problem solver... & dont worry i`ve been past all that basic stuff....
oh Kool i took some Cisco too AGM... fun stuff right... networking isnt that fun learning but more fun doing. AGM dont worry about it i know my way around regedit
ya my problem with is getting the client & opera to work together... if i figure it out i`ll help back... i just havent put much effort into doing that yet lol.
like i said earlier AGM visited forums... people with related problems... but no fixes anywhere. everyone replaces hardware & installs new sotfware as a quick fix. Fixing the actual Software issues i havent seen on the forum. i have seen recommended stuff
also Anfit yes i did have Daemon but i didnt like it & i got something else. |
Anfit 99+ day(s) ago | IT systems / statistics / translations pl<>en. Coding is just for learning.
Can`t help you much with that particular problem, have`t touched windows for years... I`m mostly linux based (though newer versions of my mod have some issues with linux, haven`t got time lately to fix that...)
1/ try installing daemon tools. it`s an emulator, but it may ship with right drives.
2/ look into windows drive letter mapper.
3/ run some disk partitioner and see what it sees
4/ boot system from a linux cd, knoppix is a good one, and thus make shure if its a soft problem
5/ just reinstall your os, after formatting your drive. backup user data and prepare app install execs first. might seem awful, but if you`re well prepared it actually takes less time then checking for viria and bugs etc. and keeping it clean is easy that way, i reinstall most windozes in my care every 2-3 months. or load them from a ghost image - norton ghost and/or g4l
Yet again about my mod: you`re an opera user. I used to be, too. My first UW went of from Opera. But I encourage you just to check my mod out, just install FF for a few minutes and check it out, it`s unobtrusive, and I like good cheer. Or good criticism :) |
CounterCrazy 99+ day(s) ago | well i dont find you knownledgible of such things... i was just wondering if Anfit was... makes me wonder what he does for a living or maybe its just his hobby i think |
AGM94 99+ day(s) ago | I just dont see how pc issues with CD drives relates to this thread on problems with the client.
My knowledge is in networking(Cisco) so maybe my advice isnt to be followed but i would recommend people being very careful before going into their registry. If people are having problems going to technical forum/knowledge base about the issue would probably be the 1st stop. |
CounterCrazy 99+ day(s) ago | AGM the bottom part is PC related issue that alot of people have... its a sotfware issue. i can start naming flies, plus values & stuff of binary code & confuse everyone more
yes i learned binary & octects if thats whatop really called. been awhile but yes im computer knownlegdible, hardware is the easiest part of a PC to learn its the sotfware that runs crab that isnt
no offense to Anfit creation im happy you got something to do with your spare time & you enjoy completing complexe projects like i do.
Ok as anyone ever have a CD drive that just stop working correctly or completely stops working or even disappears from your CD drive list if not unable to read CDs in the CD drive.
its not a hardware issues i would say well over 95% ofthe time its software. if you get ur PC with a Genric CD drive failer is high if u use ur PC for alot of stuff like i do, burning programs, game, even new audio programs (rarely), vitral drives.
Lets put it this way u put new software on ur PC over time & with software mixing up there becomes problems with how software reads stuff & which software is directed to reading it. So far windows doesnt detect issues/conflicts.
as far as the conflicts go i would say 60 to 70 % is hardware that the windows detects. Very little for software, also when they scan software its all there so it checks out as no issues. so you get NO conflicts back ur just dead in the water.
Most people call in for support for the issue & if still under warrenty they just replace the CD drive. depending on how the new hard drive software is handled by the PC depends if it will work or not, but it is new so it will most likely overwrite older software.
RegEdit
cdrom.sys
GEARAspiWDM.sys
iMapi.sys
redbook.sys
storprop.dll
u can turn anything off or on & change in setting to ur PC from RegEdit but you can also mess up your PC playing with this stuff so only advance users use it for the most part.
im to lazy to type more&NoRoom |
AGM94 99+ day(s) ago | Personally i cant see how you think anfits plugins are a cheat. The single screen fleet builder is no different than just opening 10 tabs when you want to build which most players that play here for more than about 2 weeks do anyway. It doesnt actually tell you what ships to build and it wont teach you anything because none of the plugins are for that.
I would recommend any new player to try anfits plugins, they fix things that should have been done ages ago like the back to gc link add other things that also should have been done like the turn ticker as well as other things.
I dont see how the bottom part relates to anfits plugins or gc either tbh |
Anfit 99+ day(s) ago | ah, CC, if you mind my flame, I never did anything that would think for them, just something that takes a few clicks off the game. learning comes from thinking, not from clicking
you lost me with the rest of it |
CounterCrazy 99+ day(s) ago | Anfit thanks for being the most helpful here.
sadly i dont use ur stuff for the reason i consider it a cheat & also players lose skill using stuff like it... newbies never learn to stack by themselves & will always need ur program for life if not they are just as helpless maybe as if they just joinned GC again...
i`v heard to much about ur program... it sounds good but its not the best way to learn... i think newbies & intermate players can learn from it... but shouldnt become depent on it... i frown on those who use it who are more expert like or pro like in this game...
Thanks for being helpful period & keep up the good work on ur stuff... i`ll figure it out in time... haha maybe we should talk some more i got one more slight issue...
not sure how knownledgible u are with Regedit or going thro system stuff like that, but a common thing i see on the net reporting fails with CD drives. Its all software related. I know where my problem is, but i cant find the exact point. Plus what i have found i havent been able to delete.
Problem is when installing new sotfware... lets just say it adds onto ur already files for all CD Drives & DVD drives. to much software conflicts, problem is no conflicts are reported, uninstalling doesnt work cause when you reinstall u get all the same files back period funny isnt. i dont want to delete this file completely.
Later i need to get into safe mode & try removing the files that way since it wont let me in normal currently oh & i just rebooted my XP after 2 years so its cleaned out period. as you can tell im a lazy person.... haha i just refuse to use ur program
& also as you can tell i like to type lol...
so far nothing i find or have found on the net is no good for help at all. im really surprised a problem this big hasnt been fixed, most people just replace hardware for software issues. Gentic hardware that comes with PC normally heavily affected but this stuff more so then out sourced stuff. Yawn fun. |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | I love you Jok3r, thanx!!!

StormofBladeZ 99+ day(s) ago | i have opera too. its too slow compared to firefox. client never worked for me. i gave up |
Jok3r 99+ day(s) ago | IE Client Fix
Note: this is a very general fix, and I have no idea if it affects other webpages or changes security settings.
For anyone that IS having trouble making the client working...
Internet Explorer:
click top menu bar: Tools > Internet Options
click tab: Security
click check mark: Trusted Sites
click button: Sites
This site should be displayed, if not...
add website: http://gc.gamestotal.com/
uncheck: Requires Server Verification...
click button: OK |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | Well I can`t even get it to work on IE so... |
Anfit 99+ day(s) ago | i think it won`t work either way.
think about it like this: a web page you`re loading is trying to access a file on the hard drive. if it was possible, i would be able to write a jscript, on a webpage, that could read some file on your drive. read and then post it to my server, perhaps? no way you`d allow that! so, i`m no expert in this area, really, but i think that the only way to do it is to either modify your browser somehow (userscripts, mods, whatever) or have them loaded from a different directory, one that would be registered in your browser as safe.
that`s what i`m doing in my version of client - i`m both modding the browser (firefox in this case) and loading files from a safe directory - the extension`s directory...
in Opera you can use userscripts in js, so probably i should not be too hard to port my mods so that they can be used there... someone did try, afair, but since then i`ve added several functionalities that depend on the way mozilla does things, so it might be pretty painful to port it
but i digress.
try writing a website, any website, that`d try to access diferent files on your hdd, in opera`s folders. if one of them works, you can write yourself a simple script (mine may work, actually) to rewrite the links Stephen`s client provides, and do it each time you load a GC page. that`s what i do
if i`m wrong in any of this, please disabuse me.... |
