consider this. atm people can explore up to 25-50 planets, depending on game speed and turn ratios. i`m ok with that.
the problem is with u.larges and u.fertiles, as well as gordo`ed planets, which count as single planets in the exploration algorithm, but can be worth as much as a decent cluster.
my personal idea is just to add some extra difficulty for extra landmass...
i still remeber, when I was at 14 planets on ultra, supported a fleet of 100m, had 5 borders and exploring cost me 1 turn per planet, with just 160 scouts... also consider what Deiloche did on same server. I`m not entirely sure, but i think he did exactly that at 600m PR and some 25-odd planets... ok, we were tax miners, but that is insane.
consider this: on RT i`m a terran, farmer, hiding in NP. still, if I were to do an explo UW i would EARN more during it than it were to cost me. that`s exploration costs, for you...
so ye, if i were to chose ONE thing i could change, it would be this. |

If there were 250-400 players active in GC around the clock, we would see much more action. The game is fine enough as it is so don`t mess with anything that will make it harder to explore. Go out and convince more newbs to play here and the action lvl will rise accordingly if those players are kept active and get addicted like the rest of us crackheads ! |

(and we do not want to kill newbies as they possess the possibilty to become half decent players)
so we dont want to stop exploring, for newbies (so maybe judged on an empire age)
however, if only vets explore for the sole reason (which they do aless there newbies)
to make better clusters, as there is no decent players in the server :P
bassically, by limiting exploring you effect the game and exspecially the cluster sizes, if it was judged on land mass after a few c1`s it would mean attacking only
(which as your plannets go up, would mean higher base and less abbility to get decent clusters which would then cause c3s to be smaller)
bassically, it would effect the entire game... and besides people would just spend more time reseaching in dp, and exploring = bigger/better clusters |
