99+ day(s) ago | I think the use of Thors vs. Nirvs or Tyrs is just a failure to recognize the power of Retal fire. Some people think that in order to beat a starbase you have to out-range it, so you start looking at ships with greater range, which is Thor-Zeus. Unless you run the battle sim though (or just know), you might think that you need the greater range ships rather than the capitals. |

99+ day(s) ago | Well, species, I guess that you from the start stated that this uw-attempt wasnt a fully flegded one. If you had really wanted this one to go through you would probably had designed that stacks differently and you would most likely had sold all your minerals before you started to build the stacks.
On another note. I think those bases are quite tough. Mixed with a flysch stack and some fodder stacks I think miners can build some decent uw-stacks. |

99+ day(s) ago | Well, fodder and sbs are not a good mixture as both are fragile against pyth and/or nirvs. So shuffeling em is inefficient. Only a big lyth/flysh/arag stack would make shuffeling interesting, however the costs.....
I generally wondered, why terrans basically exclusively used p.thor spams against me. Well, the obvious part is, that they deal a full round of damage against the sbs due to the bigger range.
However, if one builds 100 turns thors, it makes 1.5 mil damage to hokos, while a 100 turn nirva spam just by retalliation does 2.8 mil pr damage. For lakkos nirv and thor are equally effective, so a nirv spam only has advantages.....

And yes, I know how the costs increase... I have a fleet builder spreadsheet that calculates the cost of building a given fleet, designed and used for the fleet I built for my miner UW on ultra.
Why use fodders? Fodders absorb damage, and if you move your stacks around and the attacker doesn`t know if it is a starbase or fodders they are running into... well, it makes things a lot more difficult on the attacker to have four even stacks rather than two, not to mention that you could still have everything else the same PR, thus adding 200 mill PR to your UW... what with all the high PR virals duking it out themselves, you could easily have climbed up.
However, the point is entirely moot, now. |

99+ day(s) ago | Well, obviously there are some nicer ships in the arsenal of miner as i used. However fodder ect. has a far to low buildrate, why spending thousands of turns building fodder, when a pyth/angle spamming viral is behind the next corner. Then one should spend the turns on something, which can actively fire back....
On the other side, one has to manage the costs. Several miner ships have way more than 1$upkeep per pr point. As the costs of upkeep rises quadratically n(n-1)/2 with the turns and therefore inversely with the buildrate so that already a chlor is heavily expensive. The advantage of miner to earn more cash than other races is consumed pretty fast, if you dont evade these upkeep killers like lyth or livid or even calcite....
Btw, the light fighter drone has only an upkeep of 1/5$ per pr point, thats exceptionally cheap (well, still 10 times larger than a pyth upkeep...), and it is one of the ships miners have available, which deals the most damage per pr. So two thumbs up for using them in a lower stack in a miner uw. The main cost of lfd are the huge mineral cost, 1 composite per 5 pr! However, that does not scare a miner which makes 10k composite a turn......
The queens and runners i had in the fleet were only remaining form the building up, to have some nasty surprises if some1 would have attacked me in the 10-40 mil pr range.... |

As well, I imagine that you approached the construction of your UW improperly. Given the upkeep on fodders and hoko/lakko... there isn`t really much excuse for you to have run out of cash as early as you did. |

If you had 2 200 mil fodder stacks as well as the hokko/lakko and your fed behind you, you could have had some real chance to pull it off . As well as some diplomacy(some people really have dungloads of BTCs haha). |
