The truth is, GC is dead.
By balancing miner and collective, the admins attemped to give the game a new spin, and these mods for shure added some value to the game. However, not even the more dedicated admins dared to change the game more substantially. In part because they cant, like in the case of the viral upkeep, in part as they dont want, as in the case of rebalancing the t.emp, MOW, or m.clor, and in part as they dont care like the Kryo or the collective battleship.
This is not only a lack of develpment, this stagnation is regression.
Beside this alrteady devastating point, there are at least 3 more mayor problems of the game:
No. 1 problem: viral upkeep
As we all know, the viral usage of angle and pyth is with the greatest problem of the game, it is extremely frustrating for any (paid or unpaid) non-virals, and is probably No.1 reason, why people leave the game. And the game already has way to few players to be considered really fun. It is also my reason, why i will leave the game in near future. I have lost any hope for the game.
As we also all know, the admins can not change the upkeep of the ships separately for virals, and stephen gives a sh*t about the game at all. So one sollution would be, just to increase the income of marauders by the racial modifiers and rise the upkeep of the ships altogether, to at least .7 per pr, or as temporary fix, increase the building costs of the ships for virals by a(nother) factor 10.
No.2 problem: spammming
However, the game suffers from much more problems. The next mayor problem of the game is spamming. The core reason for spamming is by far not that people can not stack, the problem is, that spamming is so advantageous. The main reason is the build rate. If one spams, one can build up to 5 times bigger fleets or attack 5 times more often with a fleet which consist of big battleships rather than developing a sophisticated fleet. |

There is no valid reason to bypass the filter where it`s not allowed, it is there for a reason, and if you have been around as long as you say you have, you should understand and respect that. |

99+ day(s) ago | A lot of us older players "who say UC is a newb game" HAVE played it, both the new and old UC games, and yes UC was a fun game to play when it went to beta in its new form, then the main focus of the game shifted to squeezing money out of people, which took away a lot of the kind of skill required that we all used back then, replacing it with a different kind of skill that must be bolstered by buying things for the game. Also... in your "aprox 1.5 yrs" being here, you seem to have not realized that the filter isn`t there to just be bypassed continually in unoriginal ways... |

99+ day(s) ago | i agree w/ Pandy on this one guy i havent been around for long aprox 1.5 yrs but ive been around long enough to hear about all the pissing and moaning you all have been doin and i think that we realy should cut stephen some slack cause if you think about it the is his very FIRST game (sofar as ive seen) and true it sux on rock but its not too bad for a first try and like it or not UC does run alot smoother than GC *slaps self for addmiting that*. so realy i think we all need to stfu and wait for his next game to come out and run w/ that one if we want better games we gat to kiss some sirious @$$ to get them to keep Steph interested in it. hell he should play his own games then he`ll know exactly whats wrong w/ em.
now dont try and yell at me and call me a newbie cause all you "vets" got a stick up your butt and dont want to admit you were wrong because you know im right, that Pandy is right, that every body who ever tried to actualy DO somthing besides bi.tch and moan about whats wrong is right just accept that GC died and has been dead for at least 2 years. most of you who say UC is a newb game probably havent ever played it. so get your pride out of your @$$ and stfu im shure i speak for a lot of ppl when i say that im tired of all the bullsh.it threads complaining about how much this game sucks now |

99+ day(s) ago | Call me a dang foolish optimist, but I think if Stephen started another game it would be much better managed than GC, at least for some time. Because he might not be good at communicating, but he ain`t not-smart. He`s tried to make things better a few times, but always months too late. If he started something else from scratch maybe he would avoid repeating his past errors in the first place...
On a side note, armenia and 420 your accounts might be old, but you`re still completely immature. |

Stephen`s meant to update all admins now can, which they`ve bugged stephen for the last two years for is to be able to adjust the ships for balance.
But why should they ?
It doesnt` matter what is done, how little or how much you all complain.
One day some of you will have jobs you all hate but do anyway because you feel you have to either to make cash to meet house payments/bills etc or because its a family business or some other reason that you give yourself to make you feel better about doing a job you hate.
You`ll have a job where no matter what you do people above you will say its not right or if they agree peopel under you will say its all wrong and point the fngers at you.
Now think about that, add a few years of that type of job or even one, and then think about this game, and how much crab you put the staff through for something out of their control, simply because they`re there to moan to, there to belittle, and there to throw all yoru anger at, when the real target of your anger is really the total dispassion that the owner/programmer currently just doesn`t care.
and don`t make this about UC either he doesn`t care there either, they are getting the same treatment. Meantime step`s probably looking for a new project, possibly working in real life, looking after his son, and the new project will probably be a game as well, and will probably have as little beta testing, and have as little effort put into it for updates.
Why ?
because he gets sick of the crying, whinging moaning too, and he`s had to put up with it a lot longer than any of you would were you doing it as a paid job. |

99+ day(s) ago | Because i remember 04 better than 03, plus i was more active in 04 then 03. 04 was my funnest time on GC. I missed at least 2 years of GC beacuase i went to UC to try it out in 05.
Im not a vet, im just someone who played the game on and off. Ill im saying is ive been around since late 03. Im not bragging about myself in anyway, just sharing a few memories. Anything else? |

Lol i know all the feds. Thunderdogs were top for a long time. He forgot to mention Knights of Avalon, with froggy and a few others.
I see no mention of larrdog either.
My account name back then was "lukans" i was in the shadowdemons fed for a while, and another one that was led by multikillerz.
I quit GC for a while after 50 cents UW. (You probably dont remember him) I think he still plays.
I could reminince about the good old days, but it makes me feel worse about the game. |
