  What ships to build?

I`m Terran and a relatively new player on the SLOW server (no time for the other servers).

What are the best ships for me to build for defensive purposes? How many should I build? At this point in the game I float around having 5 to 9 planets. Just before my damage protection expires I try to build a defensive fleet (cruisers and destroyers). I just finished research on battleships, but now I`m wondering what I should spend my turns on next. I don`t think I`m strong enough to start going on the attack yet. I want to build my income and keep the planets I explore - but I keep getting wiped out.

The trick to stacking is obtaining DP without losing colonies.
This is done by a balance of ships, have too much hull and you will withstand alot of the enemy attack but do little damage to them, Therefore losing a colony but not getting dp. However if you do a total Spam defense with dummy stacks it is possible to lose so little of the fleet that you win the battle, though you hardly ever get dp and you can bet you will get hit again.

Having an aggressive stack in defense is risky, but in my opinion the best providing all lower stacks have the no retaliation ability. Because they have lower hull you are likely to lose more of your fleet ensuring dp.
Careful arangement of ships at with the "No retaliation" ability is crucial to defense if you chose an aggressive defense.

Imo a defensive stack looks like this:
Medium Range 8-9
Wild Card - e.g. Herc/Queens or something with reasonably large range in the defense modifiers)
Long Range 9
P.thor
P.Zues
P.odin
Herc
Nirv
Tyr

but a good technique is to notice which race is about to attack you, and take and educated at their usually stack and counter it.
Virals are everywhere on rt so usually a good bet to counterstack them.

i would say, dont make a perfect stacking (yet, there is no perfect stack too). i mean the stack that u can totally crash enemy but u lose nothing and get no DP. this is a VERY dangereous stacking.

u can use such `perfect` stacking while attack BUT not defend. as ur oppenent knew what wass ur stack and they can make a counter stacking very quick. the purpose u make a good defend stacking was to survive without losing any colonies. since ur stack was explored, i m very sure u will lose the second battle which lunchered by same attacker.

meh ignore people who give you ship names , thats not teaching , thats telling

best ships ?

well you look at their range shields and hull ( and weapons ) then mix a few together ,then nobody will have a clue what your using ( and if you paid attention ) you will have a powerfull fleet to defend yourself.

their is no " best " ship , they all have good and bads , some are better than others for certain things

add a few of what looks good to you , stack them up and enjoy.
