so ive stuck with an empire long enough that ive got it too the stage before the ??? this is a possible outline to a strategy guide of sorts that handles general strategy; perhaps not gone over as of yet.... the strategy guides ive seen before explain mechanics but not necessarily the long view which is why this game has lasting value to me that i came back after several years out. i know this game still does get newbies somehow and sometimes people who would otherwise stick it out get deterred by some basic mess ups or miss the value of the game because impatience... so i got it in my head to think of an outline kinda based on what ive experienced and maybe formulate more if time allows but.... why not share it on the forum in effect open source my idea to be expanded upon by the community which at least holds some passion for the game as i do.... also ive only gotten so far in the game and it will be awhile before i make rich list or UW or anythings so maybe those who have been there would be able to contribute to these aspects im only skimming the surface of.... that was alot to read maybe? but thanks ^_^ |

jessika 99+ day(s) ago | once i get back to wanting to own lots of land and fight to keep it then spending turns on infra makes sense since i will have the passive turn based income building as well... however at this point having plundered all good planets besides my u. spaz theres no point to trying to max research.... just arties
happens to be that ive begun playing the turn based servers again since im not doing as much dedicated clicking/babysitting of my empire on rt. On those servers my empire as sets are 30 to 100 million..... really really really low levels of all resources so im trying to pay more attention to the initial empire building process on those and also possible over looked play styles that may be less efficient from a min/max gamer perspective but more efficient for casual gaming... like my extra housing well over 6 0r 7 makes it much easier to mine ore with way fewer mouse clicks... sure at max infra i wont make as much... once youve got a trillion in the bank its not like its easy to go broke |
KnightOfBaa 99+ day(s) ago | once you hit level 100 infra, its a real drag but just keep investing spare turns here and there and youll get to max infra 1 day, some people have been playing years and never hit max level yet. i think on RT ive only have had max infra maybe 4 times out of 50+ empire restarts/fresh starts |

(total sum of all sellable goods) required.... im only at said stage because i have finally aquired a workable amount of mins and cash.... id guess my empire in total is worth 60 to 70 billion? i know that may seem like nothing when many players have 1 trillion in cash alone but... for anyone who is still empire building getting to that level of total monies creates a much different play experience than the one felt when total as sets (see if it filters that out) are only 50 million
at this point its not even worth the turns to research infra... its kinda nice... just digging and maybe some attacking as cash flow allows... |
jessika 99+ day(s) ago | i got bored/overwhelmed with keeping up on lots of planets and borders so im back down to explorable/easy pace... made me realize tho its not just about do this thing then that things so on so on there are elements to the strategy that include switching up play styles to fit lifes changes..... for instance maybe putting 20 into my housing even tho im going commercial hurts min/max at the absolute end game but.... life changed and now i want to be lazy, search for artifacts, and mine a small bit of ore while i use the resources ive worked up to play the market... its still interesting to me like it was before because it is a new way of playing since this is realistically the first empire ive stuck with to 100 infra... which im kind of done with for now.... |

jessika 99+ day(s) ago | hmm if you strip mine 200k ore and sell it all how you gonna efficiently build up infra building on the planets... need ore for that and thus simply saying sell it is over simplyfiying and there is indeed more to the game than this.... did you ever do the p b and j experiment... you right in scientific for the procedure for making a perfect p b and j and then it is assigned to your class mates to interpret the words however and seek to x it up anyway possible... its to point out the failacy of oversimplification... precision is need and thats where behindysis of the entire journey... and whats done at the end or destination comes in... how do some of you stay interested being that you could uw but want to keep you empires yet have no infra to spend on... you dont think a strategy guide in that regard could help and rope new players in by giving them a taste of the late game.... also playing with screen shot recorder... to make youtube of game cuz it needs social media yo.... yo is like american for the canadian eh |
Omegian 99+ day(s) ago | To add-on to Renegades statement of empire building, especially for RT you will want to build your empire as efficiently as possible to maximize per turn income as well as fleet power level compared to your base power level. By grabbing 400 land barrens over your first 2 c2s or c.4 would actually put you in the negative long term as far as land per planet efficiency. It would take 2x as many planets to get the same land if you went with 400 versus 800 and your base pr would be a bit higher as well thus not allowing you to fight in the lower power level ranks as effectively. Since it is RT, there is no rush to get good planets unlike turn-based and you should never rush clustering anything unless you are a mineral miner. While empire building is pretty basic, you still need to be efficient on how to do it as it effects you in some way in the long run unless you plan to gordo to 200k land. |

The tactics of empire building are only so deep, it`s a pretty straightforward process with mostly common sense applications, there is mathematically only 1 best way to build each race/income path, so. Otherwise its just making sure you have people on your side with complementary income types (IE if you are tax, make sure you have an agri friend to feed you in-case the market is empty, etc)
The real depth and fun of GC comes from the battle system and huge variety of ships. It`s not super well balanced currently so generally the most effective thing to do is build 1 ship, but when you`re fighting to take/hold the ranks predicting your opponents fleets, guessing where there stacks are, keeping track of what they are building, and tactically organizing everything with your mates is excellent and what has kept me playing this game for a decade and a half. |
jessika 99+ day(s) ago | True on these things yet i do feel it is a bit over simplified when there really is alot more depth to the game... from market manipulation to fed wars. For me the game has gotten alot more interesting now that i cant explore but can maintain a constant fleet with my humble amount of land... to which id add getting perfect clusters and 400 barrens late game is ideal but theres no way with time constraints im going through all that... if its over 150 or gets me a cluster faster ill take it and be done with it so i can border up.
that being said if i get the spare time id like to start writing bits of said guide just because... so i appreciate the feedback.... i know its more interesting late game tho than folks are letting on.... as far as early game i dont think researching capsule lab and uw is really worth it.... since its better to get an extra level or two of infra anyways... i imagine the Guide of sorts would start out simple as starting an empire is simple but get more and more complex the further ones empire progresses |
Renegade Game-Admin 99+ day(s) ago | KoB simplifies it a little, but in essence is right, if you read a quick guide right off and get the gist of the game, from there, there are only a few ways to go unless you`re really in it for the LONG term, and want to split infra as you gordo tons of land. Split infra isn`t really viable until you have 150-200k+ land and max infra so it`s a long term empire setup, but does allow you to not be so dependent on the market.
3 and 4 in KoB`s list can be done jointly as well, personally when I am building new empires I dig during rare/uncommon time and research when it isn`t dig times. Since they rotate every 6 hours you can get a good bit of each done each day. |

1. research all ships clusters lab uw etc...
2. stripmine 200k ore. sell it.
3. explore 2 x 25k+ c2s (any larges ferts etc depending on infra keep these too)
3. max out infra in chosen spec
4. dig for artifacts and make gordos/historias/major dineros
5. spend all the cash per turn ur making fighting in the ranks whilst using ur artis
6. repeat 4 and 5 |
