This is meant as a general guide to ways on stacking to beat spams on defense, ideas from any other players are welcome.
Generally as guardian i have found a good way to defend is with a stack similar to this.
Large Strafez Runner
C.Taurus Destroyer
Large Strafez Fodder
Small Strafez Fodder
F.Broadsword Destroyer
Ruby Corvette
K.Hun-Li Destroyer
Tourmaline Fighter
Strafez Queen
K.Hun-Xe Cruiser
Stack 1-2
I like the top 2 stacks to have a range of at least 7 which means that it will normally get the 1st attack before being killed by a spam.
Stacks 3-5
I like to have a high hull/pr ratio and generally good defense modifiers against most attack types. This is to make sure that they survive the 1st wave if someone is spamming more than 2 ships.
Stacks 6-10
I like to use as many no retal ships as possible in these ships, and also the high pr ships. The reasons for this is that these ships are unlikely to be killed by dummy stacks, and will normally get a free hit against the spam stacks on the 2nd wave. If they are not no retal this makes it possible that the spamming ship can hit back.
I have found that when making a defensive stack like this i rarely lose more than 1 colony against people spamming 2-3 stacks with dummies against me.
I am not sure how well these type of defensive stacking works as races other than guardian but i wouldnt expect there to be that much difference. |

99+ day(s) ago | Obviously there will always be some stackers using each race, but mostly people just spam me with the same stuff. This type of stack seems ok against stacks but since most people spam me its not been tested.
Because people started losing with herc tyr spam on aggressive etc they just go herc spam on careful now and dont win more than 1 colony on each attack |

99+ day(s) ago | The ships in the actual stack werent really important, the reasons behind the ships were the more important part. Although im not sure about your point with a.miner using more strafez as that stack i showed had 4 out of 5 possible types of strafez |

99+ day(s) ago | Well this strategy is a good gaurd one since most people spam hercs, tyrs, nirvs against them, runners take these out quite nicely the taures helps some sweep up and the actual gaurd ships sweep away the debris
As to whether this works for other races, then not generally no, i could be wrong tho.
i.e. this strategy wouldn`t work well for aminer, a good aminer stack for defense would include much strafez fodder then other high power ships and so on. |
