99+ day(s) ago | Stephen normally provides special dp after server outages, in this case for whatever reason he didn`t do so for GC or UC as far as I know.
Not much to say there other than nothing that can be done. |

99+ day(s) ago | Maybe a bit of code can be placed so that if the system is down for an extended time, 6 hours or so, the system will automatically force DP on everyone. 1, it would eliminate the Admins having to do it themselves and 2, youd be guaranteed DP without having to worry about it.
Youd see a error, it does for hours and hours lets say, and you dont worry about it cuz you know you got 24hrs DP soon as the games back on.
Whether its possible or not, up to the admins to figure out. |

99+ day(s) ago | Agreed Ank, the standard in the past was normally 6 hours of downtime would suffice a 24 hour dp. Asmo, there is always a need if server uptime is lost because you are dealing with various time zones and people in different regions.
Syn, this isn`t whining, this is uptime/downtime procedure that should have been followed from an IT controls standpoint is all we are saying. Instead of not doing a 24 DP, the result is an uptick in help center tickets to fix the issue. Thus it creates more work on admins to fix the latter. In no way am I blaming anyone, but normally there are procedures in place for events like this or should be. |

99+ day(s) ago | My apologies Ank. I have nothing against anyone here. But there seems be a bit of whining and complaining..
I do feel DP should have been given out. But it wasnt, so thats that.
That being said, I would encourage everyone who lost something of significance, whatever that may have been, to contact an Admin for a replacement. They will likely judge the loss by whatever they consider to be significant and do what they do at that point.

Tho it is curious why there was no DP given.. i logged on and had lost borders I shouldnt have. No big deal, but still. |

I wasnt able to get on during that time. I wasnt able to get on during my time before work the next morning either. When i was able to log in, I had been attacked.
So sure, while nobody could get on for that time is true, a lot of people probably werent able to log in, like me, until a good deal AFTER the issue was solved.
What you consider no big losses (and Im relatively sure you have no way at all of knowing that), may be considered entirely different for someone else.
For instance, say I had 3 borders. I wasnt able to get on, so I wasnt able to get more borders or even make sure I had a fleet with a chance of defending. My borders are lost. Next time I come out of DP could be 36 hours after the issue was fixed, but at that point I could very well lose something good at that point because I wasnt able to do my daily balancing act of stealing 3 borders that Id likely lose next time I got hit. Instead, Im wide open for something good to be taken next time I leave dp.
On top of that, just because nobody lost a 500k fert or something doesnt mean people didnt lose other important things. Are you sure no small player lost a Large or two they had on their border? Nobody lost a couple 4k clusters they had? You might not call those big, but its a pain in the ass.
Protocol has pretty much always been large outage results in 24 hour dp server wide.

99+ day(s) ago | It doesnt appear there was a need. No one lost anything of significance, and not everyones DP was expired by the time the server came back online. It was 12 hours.
Also, EVERYONE was locked out. Not even admins could get on.
The admins had to rouse Stephen from the depths of his coffee shop and get him to travel to the dark depths of space crack hell to reach the old server. Then plug the dial-up line back into the phone jack.
If you feel inconvenienced in any way, post a message in the HC and an Admin will respond to you at their earliest convenience. |
