RTKING 2016-05-03 | | DNA point rumours | | Hi Guys
So I would like to know if the ability to get dna points when you restart a empire is false or if it`s in a upcoming update?
I for one think it`s a great idea as a one time thing - or maybe once you`ve used your first one you`d need to research the project again which could be like 30k of turns.
If it is on the list I think it would be a great one to priotise first just simply so players who are getting bored can change races |

Maverick 99+ day(s) ago | The only reason DNA would be allowed is if you killed a races viability of one or multiple economical method to give other economical methods that might be viable. In this case, it wont be a project that you can anytime, but only when the admins would allow it for a certain window and can what I assume is used once if you do a race switch or switch your research to something else. |
Zanarkand 99+ day(s) ago | I agree with Ankaar and Caramelo. There should only be a one time allowance AFTER the updates and race tweaks have been made. What if you are tax miner, and say you wanna go Collective where tax is not a viable income path. How would infra be carried over? Having max infra in tax would just ruin you. Unless you were plunder Collective or Plunder Marauder which isn`t a great idea with the low amount of players. |
Ankaar 99+ day(s) ago | @RTK, Im pretty sure the admins have stated that once ship changes are done, virals will get to change ships. Once econ rebalancing is done, if it gets done, they will be allowing players to basically restart and keep infra.
I could be surprised, but I totally expect this to be a one time thing that theyre doing mainly because changing the economy of a race could totally ruin someones setup. Lets say you have 255 tax infra on a sexy Eden. Then they drop miner tax income to push mineral / cg miners - now your income is not what it was when you pursued that path, and theres nothing you can do aside from restart to fix it - so to prevent the changes from being seen as unfair to some, theyre providing a means for people to switch infra and maybe race around to where you want it.
I have to agree with carm, if Im reading him right, and I dont think a permanent project is necessary or even good for the game. A one time thing after they change race mods? sure |
Caramelo18 99+ day(s) ago | Hi RTKING
Heres my opinion:
Problem i have with this is people will change races not mostly `cause they are bored, they will change races `cause theres a need for a certain race.
Say a fed decides to do a series of uws and is quite successfull. There will be a bigger need for more guardian empires to stop such fed, as a result people will restart (or dna) for free and just counter that easily. Not to mention you have a huge problem with collective maru in the sense that you could explore 2 c2s and then go maru and climb with that and once your big enough go another race thats easier to defend, say guardian.
Another example, say the food market colapses. Any tax terran/viral that exists will want to change their "choice" of income because of that. Not to mention a lot of people will want to become food terran because of the easy to make cash.
Dna frankly, as much as i love the concept i can see the problems it brings
30k turns is about what? 12 infra levels? i can do that in about 5-6 days (if i bother to do it) I dont think its a good idea for me to change race every 5 days at a whim without any consequences.
What i could sorta agree with is an "emergency" restructure of infrastructure that could be made if certain conditions are met. Per instance, say your tax terran and food prices stays above 20 for 7 consecutive days. You could then restructure your infra (with possibly some consequences, say, less turns during 1 week or less income or whatever) and change to commercial terran or food terran. |
